Google Fi Travel Gift Cards being sent out, Redeem at your own Pace

Google Fi ran a one-day promotion back in November to get a travel gift card for the amount of your phone purchase, giving out the equivalent of a free phone with some conditions. Readers report the gift cards are beginning to come via email. You’ll get a redemption link via email where you can choose if you want AirBnB, Delta, Hotels.com, or Southwest Airlines gift card.

Fortunately, Google made the redemption even better and easier than expected:

  • You can mix and match gift cards, don’t need to take it all from one brand. For example, if you’re eligible for $900, you can request $300 Airbnb, $300 Southwest, and $300 Delta.
  • You don’t need to use up your gift card credit at once. This is terrific since it allows you to redeem for the brand you need as you need it.

Not everyone got their gift cards yet, should come soon enough.

Google’s epic level dishonesty and criminal behavior. They are claiming people ported ineligible numbers, and despite proof to the contrary, are providing no assistance. See the mounting anger on their community forums:

This story deserves attention

Got in on the deal. Received and activated on 12/11/18 with a ported in, couple years old Google Voice number. Paid $3 to get it ported to Fi. Chat support reps had been assuring me that the gift card link would come soon (Day 75-90). Today (3/10/19 – the 90th day) the special promotion page updated and I saw that my transferred number is no longer eligible for the promotion. What action(s) can I take? I only have a screen shot of the promo screen hours earlier with the transferred number still showing as eligible.

Same problem, ported in an old GV number. It said “eligible” for months and now says ineligible. They even changed the “last updated date” to March 4th even though it just updated today (I checked yesterday and I was still eligible)
I contacted them today and they have escalated it, saying I should receive an email in a few hours. I’ll see what they say, otherwise I’ll try for a CC dispute then on to small claims

Did anyone NOT get the email yet? I searched my email and no email showed up. I am using Yahoo Email so there is no ‘Promotions’ tab like in Gmail.

I haven’t received the email yet either. I do have the promotions tab, which still shows it as pending.

Guessing it should come around the 28th, remember the range Google says is 75-90 days.
