Groupon launched today ‘Groupon Select’ which offers instant discounts on Groupon purchases and more benefits for $4.99 per month.

The full benefits of becoming a Groupon Select member include:
- Extra 25% off Local––activities, restaurants and spas
- Extra 15% off and free shipping (with no minimums) off Goods orders––consumer electronics, home furnishings and apparel
- Extra 10% off Getaways––hotels, weekend getaways and air-inclusive trips
- Extra 10% off Events and Tickets––concerts, sports and other live shows
- $5 Starbucks gift card after the first payment
- Exclusive discounts on popular brands (major sports teams, theme parks and cultural attractions)
- No restrictions on the number of deals that can be purchased each day
- Coming soon, as part of Groupon’s integration with AMC Theatres, Select membership benefits will include 25% off movie tickets
Discounts apply automatically at checkout (no promo codes to enter), and there are no savings caps or order minimums. Groupon Select is currently available in the United States with plans to expand internationally.
Groupon offers a 6 months subscription with the first month free. Just beware that you are locked in for the next 6 months with this subscription. There may be a way to go month-by-month, but that option is not apparent.

Our Verdict
I don’t buy Groupons that often, but I can see this being worthwhile for those who do. Even one or two purchases per month might get more than $5 benefit value.
