Our Verdict

Previous offers have been:

This is obviously better than the first offer. Second offer you save the $95 annual fee, but $50 statement credit less (so $45 difference really) and with this offer you get an extra 25,000 points. Because of that I’d say this is the best offer they have ever had on this card. Minimum spend is also only $3,000 this time vs $5,000 last time. Definitely worth considering if you’re in the market for some more Hilton points. As always before applying for any American Express cards, read this first. A lot of readers would have recently signed up for the 100k point + $50 statement credit AF waived offer, I doubt American Express will match the bonus but sometimes they will grant courtesy points. I doubt they will in this case due to the AF being waived, but might be worth a try.

The personal offer on dummy booking has also increased to 75k + $50 SC, up from the usual 50k + $50 SC.

DoC think the picture says $3K but the post says $5K?

Darn, just applied for the 100k+Waive 1st year annual fee+$50 credit one, have not even received the card yet… I’ll do a chat to see if amex would match or not once I receive the card

same here. darn. waiting for your DP.

They don’t match, I tried numerous times and on two different accounts, one representative made me feel stupid that i’m asking for a certain offer after accepting a different offer, lol.

can you just cancel your newly applied card and apply again since you just applied and have not received rewards yet.

Good question, although you don’t wanna risk a denial or raise some flags.

That doesn’t work.

Based on? I could be wrong but I see no reason not to cancel card and apply again for the better offer. You didn’t get the bonus!

“Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card”

Unlike Chase, with Amex, if you’ve had the card, you can no longer receive a welcome bonus. It doesn’t matter if you got a bonus or not.

tried both chat and phone call(with a supervisor) and got denied matching this new offer.

The $50 SC for the other offer + no AF is $45 better for the first year. So really it is a matter of 25K Hiton Points = $45. That is not so bad that I would worry about it as the normal value of hiton points are around $.50 pp

I was just looking at getting the SPG Amex Biz Card. Which do you think is more valuable. I am still leaning towards the SPG.

Search properties in areas you may want to redeem points. I would value the spg biz offer over this personally without question but it’s a pretty subjective matter.

I have tried calling and chatting and they won’t match my sign on bonus to this increased. I don’t want to risk it and put eyes on my account since I have MSed a little

do they give you some courtesy points?
what if you cancel this card and apply again, will you get increased rewards?

Mine went to pending, p2 & p3 instant approval

I can only imagine 3 player mode…

“Wow you have 6 kids! That’s quite a few” “I wanted a lot more for churning credit cards, but my wife said her Excel spreadsheet could only have 8 tabs in 1998 so we ended it there.” Now Excel allows infinity tabs, but it’s too late for us to make more.

Well, this changes my SPG Luxury card decision. Hilton smells blood in the water after the Marriott fiasco with the travel packages and merger integration in general.

You would probably do better with the lux card though considering the new restrictions going into place, the annual 50k night and 100k Marriott probably still worth more than 125k Hilton points.

Not when AF is considered. To me anyway, ymmv

Well, I will still be able to get the SPG Luxury card after this 3-day loophole period as I am only holding the SPG Biz. Before seeing this Hilton offer I was planning on applying for the Chase Marriott Business card and the Amex SPG Lux during the 3-day period. Now I am thinking I get this Hilton card and wait to see if there is a big SPG Lux offer later in the year.

I think this is the max offer this Hilton card will ever have as it is probably a response to how badly Marriott butchered the SPG integration to try to scoop up some of the SPG people fed up with Marriot.

If you get the Marriott Biz card, you’ll have to wait 24 months for Lux bonus:

Ineligible for bonus if:

Have received a welcome or upgrade offer on any of the following Chase cards in the last 24 months:

Marriott Rewards Premier Plus
Marriott Rewards Premier
Marriott Rewards Premier Business

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/specifics-of-chase-american-express-limiting-spg-marriott-bonuses/#American_Express_Cards

That is after 8/26. That is what this 3 day loophole period is the time to strike if I wanted to execute that plan.

I have one amex business card, about 9 months old and no other relationship. I think I recall reading comments recently about amex not pulling credit on business apps assuming a previous business relationship. Am I right to believe my application for this card could come with no hard pull?

YMMV but Amex never seems to pull my credit any more, for business or personal cards.

Thanks Austin, pushes this deal over the top for me.

You could freeze your EX just to make sure. If they try to pull it, they’ll give you a call and you can decide if you want them to pull it.

I have 9 Amex cards, they’ve pulled my credit 3 times in 11 years.

Hi doc, whens the offer expire?

hi doc when will this offer expire. still working min spend for other cards

Just curious, anyone know when the previous most recent offer expired?
Thanks.

EDIT: From comment above, seems very recently.

Found it! It shows the regular card in the ad but after clicking the ad, scroll down to the offer options and the business card is there.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Links to a mostly blank page. What am I missing?

Also, is there lifetime language here? I recently cancelled an Ascend HH card but I can’t remember if I have had the HH Biz card in the past

If you tried the link I posted, I think it expires after some time. Sorry, you’ll have to go through the normal dummy booking process to see it 🙂

There is lifetime language, yes. Ask an Amex chat CSR online to confirm whether you’ve had the card in the past or not.

I believe these are also called “Hilton LandPesos,” right? Worth about $0.0003 each, I believe. 100,000 points might be enough for a Hampton Inn plus the free egg mix breakfast.

How dare you! Haha.
Seriously though my experience with HH has been about $0.004 pp, but very easy to accumulate points. It is not as bad as you make it.
Hilton or hampton, I look at the location more. For good food you go to good restaurants …. or learn how to cook.

100k points to me gets 4 stays at otherwise about $120 a night Hilton Properties so a rough Value is $500 Plus the $50 Statement Credit Offer and Hilton Gold Status perks 🙂

I think they’re similar to IHG

I actually managed to redeem a total of ~200k HH points over $0.005 in the last 2 years, and I don’t even try hard.
