Hotels.com COVID-19 Updates: Certificate Expiration Paused, Extended Elite Status & More

Hotels.com has sent out an e-mail to loyalty members stating:

  • Expiration of any collected nights or reward nights due to expire between April 1st, 2020 and December 31st, 2020 have been paused
  • All Gold & Silver members that are up for renewal between February 1st 202 and January 31st, 2021 will be extended for an additional year
  • More time will be given to qualify for Gold or Silver membership, now based on the previous 24 months instead of 12 months

Previously Hotels.com had been manually extending certificates by one year, I imagine that is no longer the case.

What about opportunity to reach #10 paid nights? I am at 9 and year expires in May.

Any idea what paused expiration means? My certificate expires this December. I don’t expect to be travelling until summer 2021 at earliest.

Dom, the Hotels.com website is clearer on this. It reads: “If this date is between April and December 2020 we will extend it and update you about a new date later as we monitor the current COVID-19 situation. Please note, your account will still display the original expiry date.”

So, to answer your question, Hotels.com is still figuring out when your certificate will expire, its just not December.

Hope this helps! 🙂
