[Expired] Hy-Vee: Buy $150 in Visa Gift Cards, Get $10 Instant Discount

Deal has ended, view more Hy-Vee deals by clicking here.

Update 11/18/20: This is better than first though, it’s taking $10 off for every $150 spent. So if you purchase a $500 card it’s taking off $30. Don’t expect this to last long (either cards selling out or a change to the promo).

The Offer

  • Hy-Vee is offering an instant $10 discount when you buy $150 or more in Visa gift cards.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 11/24/20

Our Verdict

Doesn’t look to be any limits on how many times this deal can be used. This more than covers the activation fee,  Hy-Vee stores carry $500 Visa gift cards (they do have limits on how much you can buy in a single transactions, e.g. $500, $999, etc, depending on the store).

Should be possible to buy $500 gift cards and get the $10 instant discount on each; you might need to split up the purchase and do one gift card per purchase (that’s how it’s worked in prior deals), if the cashier allows. Same deal was available last year as well.

Still working today, although one store removed the ad from the card area. got 2 at 425.95 each. May get a couple more tomorrow when it’s open.

Thanks to DoC, I bought $40500 worth of VGCs this time around, although I could’ve done more. My husband & son were busy, so only I could drive around & shop except for a couple of days. But anyway, I profited around $2160.

I think last time, the promo also ran on Friday morning at some stores, although it shouldn’t have.

My local ad shows this running through Thanksgiving day, 11/26. My local store open Thanksgiving day 6am-2pm.

Mine doesn’t, but the offer ran for 9 days last year as well, so I was expecting it to run until 26. I suspect that 24 might be a typo.

Bought a $500 in MN today using a WF card with the 10% back on grocery.

Needed supervisor approval (as did an Amazon GC for the person in front of me) but ran through as credit no problem. Total charge was $475.95

Bought 3 of these yesterday and got the $30 off each one. This morning I went and bought one and the cashier could not get the promo to apply. Did they kill this deal or just at my store?

Hard to know. My store wasn’t even advertising it, but still worked yesterday.

They allow you to buy more than $1000 in VGCs per day? Lucky you!

They allow up to 4 per visit at my store (but I usually just do 2 or 3) and I go twice a day. It has been working now again for me. Must have been a cashier issue the one time I had the problem.

Visited two stores purchased one %500 vGC with fee added – then reduced $30.00 with 3% gas and Groceries CC. My FU was CL limited. Second store had problems reading FU and my Grocery 3% CC. Finally got the .3% card to read.
Quit at two while i was ahead..

I redid this post because I did a typo for the user name.
