Our Verdict
The $10 discount more-than-covers the activation fee, so this is an easy way or racking up grocery store spend. Hy-Vee stores carry $500 Visa gift cards (they do have limits on how much you can buy in a single transactions, e.g. $500, $999, etc, depending on the store).
Should be possible to buy $500 or $100 Visa gift cards, one per transaction, and get the $10 instant discount on each purchase – if the cashier allows. Reader Jeff says you also get fuel points on the purchase.
Hat tip to reader Amanda. They ran a somehwat similar deal in 2016.
DP: Large Hy-Vee stores have gift cards at a ‘Money Center’ (smaller ones have a huge gift card rack). Wasn’t even asked if the card being used for payment is a debit card or a credit card. Surprisingly, all Hy-Vees in my town still have lots of Visa gift cards. Looks like local seasoned churners don’t have much MS to do after leveraging the Staples & the OD deals (Both had huge GC sales in my area).

Does the everywhere gift card (grocery/dining/fuel/ect) work? $5 profit per purchase sounds good enough for me.
I am in maple grove, MN. All nearby HyVee stores accept only cash or debit card for all gift cards. So unfortunately i no benefit in using this offer for me
The HyVee’s in my area don’t even carry $500 cards unfortunately, but still an ok deal.

Can confirm Limit 1 per transaction. Also, good luck finding a Hy-Vee that allows credit cards for VGCs. No 2016 party this time.
Use your phone for payment & confound them. They can’t do anything after the transaction succeeds.
Dont forget to use your HV fuelcard for an additional 4% return in fuel! AND 6% in Amex MR points per $1000 (2-$500 vgc)

The deal should be $10 instant discount. So, it would be $495.95, if you purchase $500 VGC.
