Our Verdict
The wording on the offer page is ‘select gift cards’ without more details. The email shows images of Starbucks, Lowe’s, iTunes, Kohl’s, and BedBath&Beyond. The fine print seems to imply that it’ll work on Amazon gift cards. Most likely all third-party gift cards will work, and they just want to exclude things like Visa/MC/Hy-Vee gift cards from the deal, but I suppose we’ll have to wait to find out for certain.
Should get fuel points as well (per reader Chris).

I stopped in this morning. AM management also thought that it was select brands and warned I had a nonqualifying card (Target), I continued the transaction anyway and register prompted to issue Hyvee GC so it is pretty much everything.
Management was also accommodating if not encouraging multiple transactions. $150 in GC did result in 30 cents fuel saver too.
Amazon gc working?
Not for me.
That was my first purchase and it did trigger the bonus at 6AM. The deal could have been tightened since though.
Someone please confirm that it works an Amazon. Don’t want to drive for an hour for no reason.
Tried with Amazon and it didn’t process automatically. They now have a specific list at the gift card popup of only 10 or so.
FYI, Hy-Vee has a long running offer of 20 cents fuel saver with purchase of $100 in gift cards. Since these are all third party gc, I would assume that would stack with this deal as well.
They’ve had a sticker on the gift card rack advertising it for a long time, so I think it’s a permanent offer.

After the Visa deal all my cards are maxed out … 20/150 on Amazon is good though.
Have a major appliance purchase coming up for our new home construction so I’ll be stopping in for Lowe’s. Hopefully it’s $20 for EVERY $150 like the vgc gift card deal. I would prefer not having to do 26 transactions.
As far as the maxed out cards…. I might just end up paying cash. I hit the vgc promo pretty hard as well.
