Our Verdict

Annoying that this only starts after the second qualifying stay. Remember to stack this with other Hyatt promotions such as:

Can a trip be split into two reservations to qualify? Sure, it’s a hassle to check out and check back in, but if possible I’ll switch my trip from a competitor to Hyatt.

Cool promo but I don’t know how I’ll be eligible since award nights are excluded (logically). They also exclude certain business stays so you really have to pay cash/card on your second stay to get the bonus. I’m doing a few award stays in Tokyo during the promo period but nothing paid.

Terms suggest that it is triple points on Hyatt Place and double points on everything else. that is easier than a list of hundreds of properties at least.

So instead of 5 base points, you’d earn 10 or 15 points? (5 or 10 of which would be bonus points and not base points?)

By my reading of the FAQ anyways, it sounds like your first stay can be an award night, at least.

Can the “award night” be considered the night you book with points, or is it strictly the free night certificates that you get from the Hyatt cc or 30 nights, etc.? Thanks in advance

if i have a month long stay ending on sept 28th that was booked before this promo, do you think that that will count as the first stay? i wasn’t sure whether to stay at the same hyatt place for a second month since i hit globalist already but this promo might make it worth it since it’s triple points!

edit: nvm, i looked at the faqs and it says it’s eligible!

Might be worth considering switching hotels for a night on the 15th, so that the 17th-28th can be your 2nd stay and get the triple points.

Thanks! yes i had considered that but when staying long term, you tend to have a lot of stuff haha and it would be more of an inconvenience moving 2 large luggages and a plastic bin 2 days in a row. however, i had slept on it and maybe i can just book an award night between the 15th and 28th to count as my first stay and then hopefully their system would apply the triple points to the current whole month reservation. i have done this previously where i booked an award night for a family member during a 2 month long stay and it calculated it as a qualifying night.

How do I know which properties are eligible?

I think it is all Hyatt properties.

While it is annoying that it starts with the second stay, it is nice that Hyatt counts award & free night certificate stays as the first stay. With Marriott’s Double Take promo earlier this year, the first stay had to be a paid stay. I think with the Hilton Go More Get More promo that just ended, the first stay could have been an award stay.

Hey, I’m not super familiar with the Hyatt language, but when they say “award nights”, you’re saying that includes points stays? I thought that this meant like the certificate award nights that you get annually. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
