Our Verdict
You’re saving anywhere from $17-$47 per night (it’s the cash portion that is discounted, rather than the points portion). Doesn’t make any of these properties instant books, but worth checking to see if they fit into any of your travel plans.
Hat tip to Extreme Hotel Deals
For those who still have the free 2 night certificates (any category) from the Chase card, be extra cautious with them. Mine expire today and I called in weeks ago and was told by a supervisor to just let them expire and call back afterwards to exchange for 40000 points. I googled that information and found that’s the case with most people. So I just let them expire. BIG MISTAKE! I called in today only to be told that there was some ‘miscommunication’ and they would not honor the 40000 points. I wonder what I can do now.
Hang up call again. But fyi they’ll only give you 40k points if you have explorist status. With discoverist status you’ll only get 20k.
You have to book on Hyatt’s site? I’m looking at the DC property and cash + points isn’t even coming up for me.
Yeah, how else would you book a cash + points stay?
As I explained, the cash + points option is not showing for that property in DC, so I thought there would be another way to do it aside from online. Maybe calling them up. Didn’t mean to upset anyone and illicit snarky responses – that wasn’t my intention.
Wasn’t trying to be snarky, I thought you were looking on a third party website trying to book a cash + points stay. Are you sure it’s not showing on that property? It’s working fine for me.
Same. Not seeing pts and cash. Only seeing pts booking
Nope. Just 12,000 points OR the cash price. I am logged in to my Hyatt account and the cash + points option is not showing up for that specific property at all.
Is this official or not? Stayed at HR LAX and got charged $50 instead of $75 but got the night credit but no points….wondering if I should complain to get my like 325 pts or not since I don’t wanna have them flag the billing issue and change it if the $50 rate is not intentional. Thoughts?
I think it’s intentional, not sure why they don’t advertise it.
If only they refunded in points like IHG 😜
