Hyatt To Acquire Two Roads Hospitality To Add ~85 New Properties

After much rumor and speculation Hyatt has formally announced that it will be acquiring Two Roads Hospitality for a base price of $480 million. As part of the deal Hyatt will secure the management agreements for the majority of the 85 properties Two Roads Hospitality is responsible for currently in 8 different countries. This will allow Hyatt to expand it’s presence into 23 new markets while adding properties to areas they have an existing presence.

These properties won’t be integrated into the World of Hyatt program until sometime in 2019. Two Roads Hospitality is comprised of Vivre Hotels, Thompson Hotels, Destination Hotels, tommie and Alila Hotels & Resorts. One of the big problems with Hyatt has always been it’s footprint size, so it’s nice to see Hyatt at least trying to address this issue with this type of acquisition.

Still no expansion in Europe, but it’s always nice to see one of the last remaining “valuable” hotel loyalty program expand a bit.

This is fantastic! Destination Hotels (Two Roads subsidiary) has some great properties. WOH card already looked enticing to me, but this seals the deal.

Thanks! I mean your articles are amazing, and typos are inevitable, but then from comprised to compromised is a bit too much… so much that I feel compelled to point it out for you 🙂

Fun fact… two roads hospitality is owned by John Pritzker , whose family started and owns Hyatt chain of hotels.

Nice! So, just to make it clear, this purchase includes Joie de Vivre hotels in the Silicon Valley?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joie_de_Vivre_Hospitality

With so many names being floated around, it’s a little confusing who owns what — Wikipedia page for Joie de Vivre doesn’t mention anything of Two Roads, but does mention Thompson Hotels.

It’d be really great if Joie de Vivre would now be part of Hyatt. They have quite a few properties all over Silicon Valley, which are much more convenient and accessible compared to the few hotels that Hyatt has in the area.

haha. yea anyone would be all over SPG for $480MM. but Hyatt was considering SPG and they dropped out. what a fatal mistake. dont think the $13B price tag was too much either.
