Chase is updating the access rules for Chase Sapphire Lounges. Currently these lounges are located in:
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
- Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)
- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
- San Diego International Airport (SAN)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
The access rules that are changing are as follows:
- Priority Pass members will no longer have access to these lounges (previously members receive one annual complimentary visit and then discounted access at $75). Priority Pass members will now have to pay the standard $100 entry fee.
- You’ll be able to access the lounge within 5 hours of a connecting flight (previously 3 hours of departing flight, didn’t matter if it was a connecting flight or not)
The new rules will go into effect on 8/15. How you feel about the changes will really depend if you have access to the Sapphire Lounges without priority pass or not, presumably this change should help with overcrowding. American Express recently made changes to layover access as well. I’m somewhat surprised Chase is allowed to do this given the lounges are managed by The Club and during the bidding process they usually need to specify if board access is available. I guess still having access for $100 per entry fulfills that requirement.
