This offer just doesn’t make much sense, to be honest.

Just ran a search on IB website. Paid fare for mid-Jan is $4 RT, with 442.42 in taxes/fees.

Fare
Taxes, fees and carrier charges Service fees Amount Total
Adult 4.00 + 442.42 0 x1 446.42

If you book with Avios, you will pay $ 183.20 in taxes for RT for same dates and transferring Chase UR points to IB, would cost you at least potential $114 (min x1,5 redemption values for paid flights) to get 17000 Avios.

of course they add this AFTER the miles have gone/had to be used with Iberia haha….. going direct with aa or iberia avoids BA fees, and is pretty cheap.

What are the Iberia fees these days? I’ve seen a ton of $300 roundtrip fares this winter to Europe from these markets, so it’s barely worth it with most BA award fees (even if the Iberia fees tend to be a little less).

Im not sure of the exact numbers but from what i remember, their fees were a lot lees than BA

It was rt 182 Euros. We decided against booking, as a family of four that really adds up… but very tempting, and quite cool.

(Btw, they had some availability at 11K level also, even at spring break time)

So many people are in “minus” balance on Iberia.
