[Expired] IHG Points: Buy Points & Get Up To A 100% Bonus

Deal has expired, view more IHG deals by clicking here

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • IHG is offering a bonus of up to 100% when you buy points (people will have different bonuses). If you buy more than 26,000 points then the price works out to be 0.5¢ per point.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until November 16th, 2019

Our Verdict

Previous the cheapest time to buy points was when they held points & cash stay bookings, you could make a booking & cancel and you’d get points back for the cash portion of the stay. The price was 0.46¢ per point, under that promotion the best rate is now 0.575¢ per point. This means that these 100% bonuses are now the best time to buy IHG points. You should be able to go through a portal for an additional 2% cash back. If you have the Chase IHG card you also get a further 20% discount when buying points, unfortunately this does not stack with the sale.

The 20% discount with the IHG card only applies when buying points at the regular full price, so you wouldn’t be able to stack it with this discount.

That’s what I thought “Offer cannot be combined with any other offer” meant. Thanks!

So 0.4 cpp after Chase IHG discount?

Got really excited to stack this with the 20% discount for point purchases, but did a little digging and according to both OMT and FlyerTalk, the 20% IHG Premier discount doesn’t stack. If anyone figures out differently, I would love to know!

And I upgraded the card thinking I’d get the 20% discount on top of the 100% bonus. Well at least I get 10k extra points.

Not so easy these days to get even a half-cent per point value when redeeming these points.

I did this a couple days ago, TopCashBack gave me 2.5% back on IHG purchase, and Bank of America Cash Rewards card set to Online Shopping for 3% cat gives 5.25% when you’re Platinum Honors w/BoA.

Also for what its worth, IHG allowed us to buy 150k points which came to 300k after the bonus. It cost $1500, minus the $78.75 from BoA minus the $37.50 from TCB. $1383.75 final price, which makes it 0.46125 cent per point.

We redeemed for the Grand Cayman Holiday Inn Resort at a value of over 2 cents per point due to our time we’re going. Basically a $1700 4 night stay only cost us $300 (we have the IHG Premier so we get 4th night free, plus we have the IHG Select so we get 10% of our points back).

Anyone who can’t find value at IHG properties doesn’t have the right cards available.

Wow! You nailed it!

How do you value a 4 night stay there at $1700? And factoring in the cashback is disingenuous as you would get that or better booking with cash.

He got a great deal but I agree on the CB point you make. And of course you’d be nuts to pay that price on the room IRL.

If you do buy. Use Ink Preferred for 3x UR on points.com purchases.
