Our Verdict
The price is $95 and you get a full rebate (including tax). Interestingly if you go here the price is actually $49 so it might be possible to file a price protection claim if you use a credit card and make some profit although some people won’t be comfortable with this ethically. Keep in mind Nexar is also obviously going to use your data.

Nexar is really great. I shipped it to my home address since I would be back from spring break, anyway long story short I was past the deadline to complete my drives, so I emailed them asking if I should just return it for a refund. They told me to set it up and email them after I start using it. I have been all week and emailed them Saturday and I got an instant reply saying my rebate was approved. Amazing!
However, this is yet another reminder I need to input deadlines straight into my calendar! I should have done March 24 right away.
I’ve completed 5 drives but still got this message when checking the rebate status:
The minimum of 3 drives, more than 5 miles each, wasn’t reached. You drove using the Nexar app and your cellphone camera, you need to complete at least 3 drives with dashcam.
Did 2 more trips and finally it showed eligible.
for those who used this dash cam, I currently have my 3 rides on my phone. How do I upload the videos to the cloud or will it be done automatically? And how long does the process take? thanks
Depends on how fast your internet is. I’ve got android and it usually starts syncing when it pops onto my wifi. If you log into the nexar dashboard, you can see what they have. There’s some settings in the app so that you can tweak this.
It worked..got today gift card as soon as completed the 3 drive requirement. ..

I haven’t gotten my dash cam yet. so from what I understand, just make a nexar account and then pair the dash cam with the phone app. Make 3 trips of at least 5 miles each and then upload the footage to the cloud? Or do I not need to upload anything? Thanks!
just open the app while you are on wifi it will sync up automatically
Delivered yesterday. Drove three times and claimed rebate at https://dashboard.getnexar.com/mycamera . Coupon arrived immediately in email. Redeemed Visa card and use Venmo to transfer out with 0% fee.

It’s crap anyways. 720p is horrible for a dashcam. Head over to https://www.reddit.com/r/dashcam to pay for better picks.
It could be changed into 1080p actually. The cam is from a Chinese company and you could modify settings with its app (HaloCam).
Are you able to connect with the Chinese app nowadays? Nexar somehow connects using Bluetooth together with wifi but I’m trying to connect with the Halocam app and it doesn’t
Dashcam is most likely illegal in California.
This is because you cannot mount anything in the middle of the windshield.
Huh? No. Dash cams are legal in California and you can mount them in the upper center middle of the windshield.
The limit is 5 sq inch. I believe it is bigger than that.

How does one go about getting the rebate after receiving the cam and using it for 3 trips?
You go to the “rebate eligibility” page they give you… it’s the nexar dashboard and it ends in something like /mycamera

Payment and Rebate
Following the completion of the registration process and your approval of these Terms and Conditions (this “T&C”) your credit card will be charged and Nexar will mail you a HaloCam dashboard camera (the “Dash Cam”) to the address specified in the checkout form.
Nexar will rebate you (the “Rebate”) subject to the following conditions, to be fulfilled within 30 days from receipt of the Dash Cam (the “Conditions”):
(1) Installation of Nexar’s mobile application – available through the app store (the “Nexar App”). You must sign up using the same email or phone number used for the camera purchase;
(2) Successful integration between the Nexar App installed on your mobile and the Dash Cam; and
(3) Completion of three uninterrupted drives of five (5) miles each, using the Nexar App integrated with the Dash Cam, for the entire duration of each drive. These three drives must be completed no longer than 10 days after the camera was delivered.
Once you complete the three drives, apply and check the status of your rebate using the link https://dashboard.getnexar.com/mycamera.
Rebate will be made through a Visa Incentive Card administered by GiftBit within 30 days as of the complete fulfilment of all Conditions.
Nexar will send you an email explaining how to redeem the rebate.

After you take 3 drives with the dash cam connected to your phone, uploading data to the cloud, you can disconnect the dash cam from your phone and still receive the rebate. Once disconnected, the dash cam records to the included SD card only.
That said, it’s a low quality camera. Better dash cams don’t run more than $50. Some will be less.

Thanks. I still hadn’t gotten around to checking what ends up on the card when I forget my burner phone. (the one with the nexar app on it) I was wondering how it works in that mode.
