Inbox Dollars Seems to be Coming Through

The Inbox Saga

We’ve been documenting the story of the 5% cashback offer on all eBay purchases via the Inbox Dollars shopping portal. We first posted about it on 9/9/15 and the eBay category was removed on 10/15/15. The good news is that the cashback now appears to be coming through, hopefully it will be that way for everyone soon.

We reached out to them last week and were told that by 10/19/15 we’d see cashback for all purchases made up through 9/11/15. Many of you may not have any purchases made by that time, but I had two purchases by that time as did some others; the test was on…

New Terms

After 10/19/15 passed and no cashback appeared, I reached out again to Inbox and we also tried making a push on Twitter. They replied on Twitter with an interesting link which no one knew about. Basically, they disclaim there that:

  • Not all purchases may be eligible for crediting
  • All orders will be validated and approved prior to credit
  •  InboxDollars credits Members for completing Offers based on information we receive from our Advertisers. Thus, the Advertiser has the final say in whether or not a Member is credited for completing an Offer. InboxDollars makes no guarantee that Members will receive credit for completing an Offer.

Wow, that is some load of disclaimers.

The most interesting part would be if we can figure out when this page was written. Luckily we can:

It was created on 10/13/15, just two days before the eBay offer was removed completely… (HT: @bem236)

Is it coming through?

At that point, I was pretty sure that something is different in their system and either isn’t awarding cashback properly or will just award for certain categories. In fact, I had a post written up about it which was almost posted a few hours ago.

A new development came today when I got an email back from them that they are crediting my account and $18.50 popped up in my Inbox account.

The big question remained for me whether this was special treatment they are giving me as a blogger to shut me up  😉 or if the cashback is actually coming through automatically.

Interestingly, I got $18.50 for the shopping and I had only requested 5% of $270 (or $13.50) since that was the amount of my purchases from up until the 9/11/15 cutoff. After reviewing my eBay purchases I realized that there was one other $100 purchase made on 9/9/15 and I must have gone through Inbox for that purchase as well. Success! They were crediting me even for purchases I had not mentioned to them at all. It’s working automatically – Yay!

I asked around to see if anyone else also got cashback for purchases until 9/11 and orensmoneysaver has one contact who also got their cashback from Inbox. On the other hand, one Twitter correspondent told me that he did not get cashback for an 8/27 purchase. Inbox replied that reporting is almost complete, indicating that it’s just a matter of time until it comes through.

Based on the above and some other factors, I’m pretty optimistic that it will come through automatically for everyone. There may, of course, be some purchases which didn’t track properly – as with any shopping portal – and then you’ll have to try your luck with submitting a claim for the cashback via chat.

Let us know if it came through for you.

Caveats

Just a brief reminder of a few caveats we wrote previously:

  • First, there is $3 deducted at the time of payout. More details in the previous post.
  • Second, if you were not active for 10 days they’ll shut down you account. You can easily get it reinstated – cashback intact – for up to 6 months.
  • Lastly, yes, they are slow and it may take some more time until we get paid out for all purchases made up until 10/15/15 when the category was removed. The upside is that once it comes through, you can cash it out right away.

Haven’t seen anything. In the Crediting Section of their support, it says “Crediting for Ebay will take about 45 days* to be issued to your account from date of products shipment”
*This is due to reporting time frame and allowing time for shipment of orders and/or returns to occur.”

I ordered $250 Hyatt gift cards from cardency and SVM 36 days ago and they never credited yet.
I’m not holding my breath on this one.

How long ago was the purchase for that $18.50 credit?

Hopefully it’s true. I have nothing here yet, and my first two purchases were made on 9/9/2015 and 9/10/2015 respectively.

They closed my account and my wife’s account saying we are violating their one account per household policy, so sad about it and I’ll never use inbox dollar any more..

Ugh, same happened to me and my gf. Not even same household but used the same computer. Bye bye a potential couple hundred…

here too, they replied me someone from the same house hold have account before, but this is the first time I am opening a account with them. My friend who referred me to InboxDollars have 6 account and he never faced any issues.

I made purchases, but only after 9/11… so we’ll have to wait and see. With over $1250 in ebay purchases I’m really hoping they do come through automatically!

I went to their website to check my luck only to find that “In accordance with our Terms of Membership, your Account has been terminated.” I’ve only used it to buy like two ebay gift cards.

My eBay purchases on Inbox Dollars never came through, even with all blockers disabled. Oh well, small test purchases so no big loss.

I have confirmed chat that they tracked my pre-Sept 11 orders, no credits. I think any credit you received is just because of who you are. Just my take.

Chuck,

Did you receive credit when you purchased Ebay gc? I haven’t received credit on any of my purchases yet and I want to know what I should and should not inquire about.

Jesse

It’s been 47 days since my first purchase and nothing yet. Amazes me how they can get away with this because other sites actually do pay something. These guys are getting away with paying 0% after advertising 5%.

Yeah, I’m at day 34 myself and have used their portal for a few thousand dollars in purchases. Have you contacted them yet? You’re outside of their time window so you have every right do to so. I’m pretty much just clicking their paid emails and waiting 45 days before contacting them.

Hopefully we can sick Chuck on them and obliterate them on social media if they don’t comply.

Sadly, I was someone who alerted Chuck to inbox dollars. I made 8 eBay purchases. Used live chat and they credited me for one. They confirmed that the orders tracked, but said they could not pay out until eBay confirmed the purchases. It has been over 60 days. They told me to contact eBay. eBay said they have no affiliation with inbox dollars to any shopping portals. Sigh.

After much persistence, and repeated attempts, an InBox Dollars supervisor paid out all my purchases in one lump sum, $18.45. She said it was done because I am a long time customer. Will not use InBox Dollars for portal shopping again.

They are only crediting the persistent. After complaining twice I received a $35.75 credit. It comes out to 2% of my total purchases. 3% less than offered but better than nothing.

Bryan,

Did you wait until they were all 45+ days before emailing them?

Bryan

I contacted them before 45 days, but they made me wait.

I contact inbox dollar once receive $82 which is 5% of ALL my eBay purchase. Rep didn’t say anything about missing transaction. I don’t what do specially that my shopping track success first time. I think InboxDollar is more likely not tracking shopping well than being a scam.

Eric
Eric

Are you saying you simply told them that you spent $1640 and they credited you $82 with no questions asked? Did you include Ebay gc you purchased in part of that total?

SteveX

He probably just gave them a list of his transactions, dates and amounts and they credited. The did that with me as well. I had to contact them 2 times, but I did get all the credits I asked about.

Of course now I’m waiting on a check. But I’ll tell everyone if it is received. Seems like they’re saying it’ll take about 2 weeks to process.

Eric

You’re lucky. They came back today and said I need to email them copies of all of my order receipts.

I contacted Inbox Dollars through chat yesterday for 5 eBay purchases from 9/9-10/9. They asked me for the dates and amounts of each transaction as well. Today I was credited all of the cash back, including a $100 eBay gift card. I requested a check and it said the processing date will be 11/18. I recommend everyone else do the same.
