Instantly Refer a Friend for a Chase Credit Card

Chase has a Refer-a-Friend program which can be accessed at https://www.chasereferafriend.com/. The system will ask you a few basic questions and tell you whether your card is eligible.

Not all cards are always eligible. Currently, many have been reporting getting offers of 5,000 Ultimate Reward points for referring a friend to the INK card, to the Sapphire Preferred card, and to the Freedom card.

If you are eligible for referrals, the system will give you the option of referring via email, Twitter, or Facebook.

One slight annoyance with the system is that if you refer via email, they send out the referral with a delay. In the above image, Chase mentions that the referrals will be received within 7 days; in practice it’s usually a day or two.

Instant Referrals

What if your friend tells you he’s just about to apply for a credit card right now?

You can use the Twitter option which will tweet out your referral code. If you don’t want the tweet to show up in your regular Twitter account, you can use a spam Twitter account – you may have some spare Twitter accounts which you use for Amex Offers, for example. Login to whichever Twitter account you want to use, tweet out the referral, and then tell your friend about this other Twitter account and have him/her click on the link in the tweet to apply.

A simpler way to get an instant referral is to use the Twitter or Facebook option and then copy the link into an email and send it to your friend. This way you can refer your friend instantly and still be able to send it to him directly, without asking him to find the link on Twitter. (I personally had success using this method.)

Anonymity

A possible advantage of using the  Twitter/Facebook option is that by using these options the identity of the referrer is not know to the referee. This could be useful for someone who wants to refer someone else without their real name being displayed. There is a mention on the application page that the referrer will earn a bonus, but the name of the referrer does not appear. Conversely, if you use the regular email option from Chase, your full name appears at the top of the email.
