Originally posted on December 17th. Reposting on December 18th because the sweepstakes is now live. I usually don’t post sweepstakes but a few readers e-mailed me asking why I didn’t post this one so here you go.
Last week JetBlue made available 200 copies of their Get Packing! board game on Amazon for $19.99 and they sold out within a second. The reason the game was so popular was that it also comes with a free return flight with JetBlue. They were due to make 200 more of these available on Monday but they have decided to make a change. They will now be giving away 195 copies via a sweepstakes and then the other 5 copies will be auctioned off for charity via Charitybuzz. Not exactly sure why JetBlue thought that a board game with a return flight for $19.99 wouldn’t sell out instantly, but here you go.
Wow DoC – I love you man. Just happen to check my spam folder today. I entered for myself and wife. While still skeptical only i received this and not SO. Here is email from JetBlue.
Dear JuicyJosh,
Thank you for participating in the JetBlue “Get Packing!” Sweepstakes. Congratulations, your online entry has been selected as a winner, and your prize is a travel certificate redeemable on any JetBlue economy round-trip flight (“Travel Certificate”), plus a JetBlue Get Packing! board game. The approximate retail value (“ARV”) of each Grand Prize = $270.
Awesome, congratulations!
I won as well! How do you maximize the redemption. If you keep reading the paragraph, it says the vouchers can be transferred (gifted) to someone else.
I received the game box/voucher via parcel service yesterday. No clue on how to maximize. Atm, our plan was to use my free flight somewhere and use the 2018 CSR credit to get SO’s. Now that ya mentioned though im gonna check DoCs previous posts on JB and see if anything interesting pops up. Plz let me know what you come up with.
I don’t have a game plan yet, I wanted to use it to go to Hawaii (since I’m getting married there next year), but I don’t think we can redeem it for partner airlines. I don’t have any other ideas, also, is it one single round trip or is it a round trip for 2 passengers? I’m still waiting for the box to arrive.
Also, how’s the game itself? I’m a big board game fan.😬
Why do you say JetBlue didn’t think the game would sell out instantly?
Well they might have thought that, but they changed the terms of the second half of the promotion to be a sweepstakes because it sold out instantly. Entirely possible that was their marketing plan all along.
Well the first one was useless. I had not even heard of it. The second one will create a lot of buzz. Free publicity.
Also it will let then do price discovery. How much does the public really value this game. Next time they will sell out for 40% off that.
The 200 lucky basyards made a killing
Everything probably went to scalpers. There was a listing on eBay for $9999. You can probably take a lifetime of Jet blue flights for that amount.
