The Offer
- Receive $0.50 for cans or bottles purchased in a six-pack and
- $1.00 for cans or bottles purchased in a 12-pack
- Individual bottles/cans will receive $0.10
The class action lawsuit is over the label. This label says that “Brewed under Kirin’s strict supervision by Anheuser-Busch in Los Angeles, CA, and Williamsburg, VA”. When you purchased six packs or twelve packs this was not visible on the outside of this packaging.
The Fine Print
- You can get up to $50 if you provide receipts, but only $12 if you cannot
- Beer must have been purchased between Oct. 25, 2009, and Dec. 17, 2014
Our Verdict
If you’ve purchased any Kirin beer within those time periods and don’t plan to file your own lawsuit over this matter then I’d recommend participating in this class action. If you’re new to class action settlements, I’d recommend reading our intro guide here. I think the best website for viewing listings is class action rebates.
If you didn’t purchase the products within this time period, please do not file a claim – it will only the amount of money that legitimate claimants receive. I did purchase Kirin beer within this time period, I’ll need to go through my stack of receipts to see if I still have purchase proof or not, but even if I don’t I’ll grab the $12.
Personally I don’t really care too much about the labeling mishap, but class action lawsuits are an important means of keeping large scale corporations honest – even if a lot of the settlement ends up with the lawyers. I’m not going to make it a habit of posting these class actions on this site, so make sure you sign up for the class action rebates newsletter and they’ll let you know of new ones each month.
