The Fine Print
- Coupons are valid from through 08/13/2019
- Usually, every 1000 fuel points will get you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, a max value of $35 per 1000-points, though these details do vary by store and region.
- Points earned in June will be valid through the month of July.
- Excludes variable-load Visa and Mastercard gift cards.
Our Verdict
Dosh is offering some people 10% & Ibotta is offering some people 8%. Both exclude gift cards though.
Has anyone used there AmEx Gold at a grocery store buying gift cards to see if they still receive 4x AmEx MR’s bonus points?
I tried today. I’ll report back if it posts as 4x.
The purchase finally posted and yes it’s 4x MR. Note that my spend total was only $100 and some change. I bought a $100 card + some small item that I needed.
this is weak considering you are buying .40 off a gallon for $6 in activation fee for a $100 vgc. make it work of a $500 vgc and we are in business.
15 gallons at .40 off gives you $6 off, so free GC. Just throw it in with your regular grocery shopping. Liquidate it with Plastiq, you should be able to get rewards worth at least 2.5% on grocery. You end up with no cost, little effort MS. Maybe not worth it for the points but you can get a few thousand $/year toward meeting MSRs.
Hopefully you’re getting 4-6% back on card plus $14 off on gas (35×0.4). Not bad for $6.
Can you use the coupon more than once?

Mine shows as redeemed and not available after one use. Seems different than previous promos. Terms also state “Limit one coupon per customer”, which seems odd for unlimited use.

Yep, even though digital coupon shows as redeemed and no longer available, it still works.
I don’t think anyone actually got the Dosh 10% to work. Lots of people got the email, but it never updated in the app. I got the email and tried to make a purchase, but I only got 5%. In addition, J C Penney replaced Kroger for me entirely now.
I am guessing they either fix the bug like what Plastiq did earlier the month, or they will give the money out at the end of the promotion.
P.S. Only the “FIRST” purchase has the 10% cashback, not every single purchase 🙂
