Typically, Kroger offers 2x fuel points on all gift card purchases and they’ll occasionally release offers like this one to get 4x fuel points on all or some gift cards. This time, the offer is on restaurant and movie theater gift cards only apparently.

Our Verdict
Usually every 1000 points gets you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, for a total value of up to $35 per 1000-points. This does vary by store and region.
If you purchased a $250 gift card you’d earn 1,000 points which would save you $35 on a 35-gallon tank, or ~12% discount on the gift cards. You can also earn bonus credit card rewards as Kroger should code as a grocery store and plenty of credit cards offer that as a category bonus.
To maximize the deal even further, remember that you can get free cell phone service with Kroger when you earn fuel rewards points (you don’t need to redeem them for this, this is in addition to getting free/cheap gas).
Kroger is only is select areas, but all stores under that chain will probably have this offer. For East Coasters, there is now a 2x  gas points offer on Visa gift card at Stop&Shop/Giant.
