The business version of the Amex Platinum card gets a 50% rebate on business and first class bookings via AmexTravel and even on economy bookings of your selected airline. This benefit will end on May 31, 2017.
However, as we clarified with Amex, new cardholders who applied/apply for the card between October 5, 2016 and May 31, 2017 will get the benefit for one full year. Further, Amex has clarified that if you upgrade a different card to become a Platinum business card it will get the benefit for a full year.
If the 50% rebate is valuable to you, consider opening a new Amex Platinum business card with the current 75k/$20k bonus if you’ve never gotten that bonus before. Or upgrade a different MR business card (BGR or Green) to Platinum if you’ve already gotten the bonus before.
Bear in mind that upgrades may take a day to process, and I’d recommend doing it by 5/30, at the latest, to give it a day to take effect. New applications should be good until midnight of the 31st, though it doesn’t hurt to give a bit more room there too. Check the landing page to make sure it still shows the 50% rebate benefit before applying.
