Lyft: Free & Discounted Rides For 2020 Elections

The Offer

  • Lyft has announced that they will be providing free & discounted rides for the 2020 election season. The free & discounted rides will be offered through Lyft’s non profit partners:
    • League of Women Voters
    • National Federation of the Blind
    • Student Veterans of America
    • National Urban League
    • Voto Latino Foundation

Our Verdict

My personal opinion is that if somebody wants to vote, they should be able to so it’s nice to see programs such as this help people get to the polls that would otherwise be unable to. The bigger issue is that something like this program is needed in the first place. There will of course be people that take issue with a program like this as you can effectively target groups that you know/suspect will vote with a particular leaning. Again that would be solved by not needing a program like this in the first place.

Please keep discussion to this actual promotion/program, rather than your own political ideology. I suspect I’ll have to close the comments on this post, but please at least try to stay on topic.

This is no different than other groups offering rides to elections, be it by passenger car or bussing. Every group has a right to try to increase turnout by whatever legal means necessary regardless of their affiliation. Lyft just happens to be the method these groups are using. God bless America

Maybe I’m just being dumb but just for clarification – do you need to belong to one of those groups to get a ride to the polls or not? I’m a member of SVA but wondering for others, if it’s offered, I’ll definitely take advantage during the primaries.

Go and vote. Tell your friends and neighbors. Else you deserve to lose what they have been trying to take away for many decades. And only you will be to blame.

Don’t expect charity or empathy if you can’t stand up for your rights.

But how about if the people I tell to vote are going to vote a different way than me. Am I supposed to be happy that people vote for causes I abhor and with an ideology I detest, no. Voting shouldn’t be an issue because every group should be free to govern themselves and have their own countries. Plenty of land for in America for everyone to have their own way of life. Until that happens I’m not happy someone is cancelling out my vote.

Yeah when I see virtue signaling, my eyes immediately shift to the National Federation of the Blind.

TIL telling people to take advantage of their constitutional right to vote in elections is virtue signaling.

Clearly, Churn isn’t used to political posts that aren’t political.
