Maldives To Launch Loyalty Program For Visitors

Maldives is the first country to launch a loyalty program for visitors, the new program is called ‘Maldives Border Miles‘. You earn points for each border crossing and there are three loyalty tiers: Bronze Aida, Silver Antara, Gold Abaarana. Currently we don’t have details on how the program actually works or what each loyalty tier will offer.

I suspect that most people that visit the Maldives do it as a once off dream destination (e.g honeymoon, wedding anniversary etc). I’m not sure what sort of benefits Maldives could offer as a whole to encourage repeat tourism.

Once you attain status you get a couple free bottles of water? It’s worth a lot over there.

Probably targeted at the affluent southeast Asians, Indians, Chinese and middle easterners. It’s less than a 6 hour flight away from those countries.

Got curious and googled – round trip from Delhi or Hong Kong to Maldives goes for $300 USD. Singapore and Bejing for around $400 USD.

Instanbul, Frankfurt, Doha – all $900+

Just interesting, I have difficulty getting over flyover country for $400.

A cool benefit would be reimbursement for that $600 mandatory, puddle-hopper flight haha

Worth overlooking their ignorance for such natural beauty. The marine life and spectacular beaches are the literal best.

It’s not so much what they’ve done, it’s more about the reasoning behind it.

There are so many other great places to visit.

Perfect! Now to figure out how to afford one trip there per quarter so I can rack up some loyalty points.
