Marriott Adds 5%-10% Devaluation To Award Bookings

Unfortunately it looks like Marriott has increased award prices by 5%-10%, as first noted Chinese award booking sites and then by Loyalty Lobby. Some properties have increased prices by more than 10% and some properties have had prices remain the same or decreased. Marriott moved to dynamic pricing in March 2022 and award charts were removed. The nice thing about having award charts is that it creates accountability and hotel chains used to normally change properties between tiers (in both directions) once a year. 

My only surprise if that Marriott loaded all of these changes at once, making it more noticeable and a broad devaluation rather than targeting individual properties over time. Just a reminder that the best miles and points are ones that you’ve successfully redeemed.
