Marriott Brings Back Emirates Partnership (Your World Rewards)

Before Starwood Preferred Guest was acquired by Marriott they had a partnership with Emirates. That partnership has now returned and is offering the following:

  • Marriott elite members will earn 3 Marriott points per $1 spent on all Emirates purchases
  • Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite will receive in-airport benefits, including priority check-in and priority boarding
  • Emirates elites will earn 1 Emirate mile per $1 spent on all Marriott purchases
  • Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold and Platinum will receive additional benefits at Marriott hotels, including:  including 4 p.m. Late Checkout,2 access to Elite check-in3 and complimentary in-room Wi-Fi.

Is there any downside to this? I’ve never flown Emiratis but why would you say no to free miles. Do I get less marriott points because this somehow?
