McDonald’s Launches MyMcDonald’s Rewards Program

McDonald’s has launched it’s new rewards program called ‘MyMcDonald’s Rewards‘. It goes nationwide on July 8th, 2021. It offers the following:

  • Free Hash Browns, Vanilla Cone, McChicken® or a Cheeseburger after first order
  • Earn 100 points per $1 spent
  • Four redeeming tiers:
    • 1,500 points = McChicken® (Regular or Hot ‘N Spicy), Hash Browns, Vanilla Cone or our classic Cheeseburger
    • 3,000 points = medium Fries, Sausage Burrito , 6 pc. Chicken McNuggets® and a large Iced Coffee.
    • 4,500 points = large Fries, large Frappé, Filet-O-Fish® or Sausage McMuffin® with Egg.
    • 6,000 points = Big Mac®, Quarter Pounder®* with Cheese, Happy Meal® or a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit!

The new loyalty program replaces McCafe rewards and existing punches will be converted to 400 points. Not the most exciting rewards program, but hey free food if you like McDonald’s. Basically works out to be a free item for every $15-$60 in spend depending on the item.

I believe this program is still regional. I’ve seen it in the Southwest. I have some credits in my account for purchases made in that region. When you leave the region, you keep your credits, but can’t earn or spend them until you return.

I don’t really know why anyone would care, though. The real deal is in the daily deals, which often makes McDonalds food astonishingly inexpensive. There’s almost always 2 for 1 sandwiches or better. And if you use curbside pickup, the process is speedy and easy. The problem with McDonalds is most of the food is just meh, and their menu doesn’t have a lot of variety.

Randomly went to a McD’s today for first time in two years probably. And noticed the app was upgraded. App is still pretty slow. (my daughter wanted the BTS Meal before it was discontinued; don’t hate on me visiting McD’s; yeah I’m gonna be 400 lb and die to heart disease and/or diabeetus etc etc).

Can confirm free cone/McChicken added after 1st purchase (in the form of 1500 points) plus 100 pts per dollar spent (looks like not including tax). So I ended up with 2200 pts after purchasing a $7 BTS meal. Long term looks decent. A free basic reward item worth $1-1.50 every $15 in food purchase.

Correct me if I am doing my math wrong, but it seems points are worth .07 – .012 cents. Doesnt that mean earning 100x is 7% – 12% return on spend?

that seems unsustainably high.

Their real food cost is like 30% or less of what is typically charged.

And IIRC much of these promos’ burden is on the shoulders of franchisees, so it just squeezes them without hurting McDonalds corporate. They won’t stop it until a revolution like their ‘all day breakfast’ thing a few years ago.

Why not just call it McPoints or McRewards. Should just pay me the millions in marketing fees

Don’t hold your breath. It took 2 decades just for Esther Glickstein Rose to get a public ‘thank you’, while McD’s lead her family friends to laugh off the wildly embellishing auntie claiming to have coined the popular ‘Big Mac’.

A medium McCafé Coffee Iced Frappé has 62g of sugar, 24g of fat, a side of carrageenan. The high caffeine content also means that your body won’t be absorbing whatever few nutrients this beverage has.

There are healthier ways to gain weight besides loading up on refined sugars and carcinogens. Please take better care of your body.

I was invited to convert because my last visit (app use) had been in a different area where the program just launched. Unfortunately, the area where I live doesn’t have it yet, so now my punches have been converted to points that I can’t add to or redeem.

I don’t think it has fully rolled out nationwide. Not seeing any mention of it in the app.

I’ve been using it since December, I thought this was already nationwide. The rewards are pretty garbage and count as the 1 ‘deal’ you get to use per order.
