MoviePass is a cinema subscription service, you pay $9.95 a month (or less when it’s discounted) and get unlimited access to any standard screening. They have updated the homepage for the latest offering with the following verbiage (emphasis mine):
Offer includes four movies a month with MoviePass and an extended, free 3-month iHeartRadio All-Access trial
As you can see there is now a restriction of four movies per month. There is nothing about this affecting current subscribers yet, but it’s always possible they add that restriction in later. Competitor Sinemia limits you to two/three movies per month depending on the plan you choose, but the plus side is they allow you one ‘premium’ screening per month (e.g IMAX/3D/Dolby).

Seems like they've further reduced the number of movies per month to three under the current iHeartRadio offer, but the unlimited $9.95/month pass is now back up on their website as an alternative.

Guess what? They changed it back. Along with a $7.95 a month option. Still no AMC near me. Only 1 theater.
well - they didn't quite scoop me up in the initial offer - now they certainly won't. Movies in theaters suck, now you managed to devalue this even further. No thanks, now I won't even think about considering it. Maybe if Hollywood decides to not make everything a sequal, reboot, rehash, etc... would I consider it.
David - you APPARENTLY are not their target market. Some people still go to the movies weekly, or even multiple times a week. This is for them - not you.

They are focused on people who considers or even pays for the subscription but never or only rarely actually use it MUCH MORE on people who "go to the movies weekly, or even multiple times a week";)
Their (financial) situation is probably so bad now that in order to stay afloat they have to alienating their actual target market.
This is supposed to be temporary. They have already said that the old offer will be back and they are testing options for the market. Not to say this will not be permanent here soon, but for now it will go back.
I have MoviePass now and have since they hit $10 and it has been flawless for me. My daughter and all her many friends now have it and everyone loves it. If they switch to 4 movies I'd be fine with that, I'm still coming out way ahead and if that helped keep them alive longer I'm all for it as without MP I saw maybe 4 a year on average.
Where did they say it's temp?
I've seen people on Twitter reference the fact that the MoviePass CS Twitter handle has indicated that the old plan option will return after this "limited time offer" but I can't find actual evidence of such a tweet (hard to search for). They definitely have said the offer is for a limited time, but I haven't seen clarity on whether the 4/month limitation is temporary or not (i.e., what happens when the limited time offer ends).
Seems like they might "return" with the normal monthly offer, but keep the 4/month limit. I really hope not, but I could see them using this as a transition to that. It's still a good deal, but I'm disappointed I might have missed out.

They have done this same type of thing before where you could only buy a yearly subscription and not the monthly for a couple of months.

I'm actually ok with this. I want this to last and if 4 movies is the cap to keep this sustainable then I'm all for it. The wife and I go usually 1-2 times a month. I'm sure this will disappoint those who go frequently but without this I think MP wasn't going to last more than a year.

This sounds fair but it would’ve been nice to have the option of reserving seats in advance. It’s sometimes really difficult to see the big blockbuster hits in metro areas and their suburbs because all the (mediocre and good) seats are reserved regardless of show time for a week or two.
If you live near or drive by the theater, you can buy your tickets ahead of time if you go to the theater.
Currently you have to be within 150 feet of the theatre in order to click on the film and have the check in work. I once was parked a bit further away and it pulled up the hours from a different day, so when I got to the window that showing did not exist. I will say I sent them a note and they cancelled it right away so I was still able to click on another showing within a few minutes.
it usually works at half mile or more, so can do at a red light nearby or while driving home. before coming back.
Yeah I think MoviePass doesn't want to do this as they are trying to position MP users as incremental revenue on concession purchases. If a session time is already selling out there is no uptick in revenue (actually a loss if the chains are subsidizing MP visits).
Thats a huge drop from 30 to 4. They better grandfathered 1 year subscribers. I love MP but only 4 movies/month I won't continue after my year is over. 8-10 movies/month would keep me

Surely if you're wanting to watch 8-10 movies a month, it's still a good deal at $10 for 4 movies...?
