Our Verdict

The standard bonus on this card is 30,000 miles, although there’s been a valid 50k link for quite a while. The big news here is that this link (above) is not showing any 24-month language which means that you can get this card even if you opened or closed a Citi AAdvantage business card (or any other Citi card) within the past 24-months.

Note that you can’t apply for more than one Citi business card in 90 days, so this offer will only help you if you haven’t applied for ANY Citi business card recently. On the other hand, you should be able apply for a personal and business card on the same day, though the inquires won’t be merged.

Also note that you won’t be able to hold two of the same business cards so if you currently have this card version you’ll have to cancel it before applying.

Check out these 17 things to know about Citi card before applying. We have added this to our list of the best business credit card bonuses due to the lack of 24 month language on this card. You should also be able to get matched to the 60,000 offer discussed here.

  1. Dan says:

Have received two citi personal cards within the last 65 days, was also approved for a citi business card about a year ago (canceled that probably about 6 months ago). Auto denied for this (seemingly with no hard pull)

  2. DCJoe says:

Thoughts for those of us who got two of the “no 24 month” personal cards in late December/early January? Still inside of 65 days until next week. Advice here says business apps don’t touch personal for the purposes of that rule, but some DPs on reddit make it seem like they might. Or those could be 6/6 denials. Am at exactly 6 on EXP, which Citi generally pulls for me.

If apply and denied for 6/6, any DPs on recon and getting them to pull another bureau?

  3. mishyq says:

similar to 2 posters above, i am not 100% clear abt the Citi rules too when it comes to combining personal+business app

let’s say, if you have applied for the Citi Personal #1 on Jan 11 and Citi Personal #2 on Jan 19, so am I right that the 1/8 and 2/65 rule are still in effect even if your third apps is Citi Business ?

which means, the earliest you can apply for Citi Business is Jan 11 + 65 days, right? and that, you shouldnt be applying for a second Citi Business until Jan 11 + 65 days + 90 days? (but any personal apps that happen between the 65 days and 90 days timepoint would need to be counted as well)

in other words, the 1/8, 2/65, rules for personal apps 1/90 rule for business apps are all AND statements, not OR statements.

  4. Ali Taheri says:

How soon after cancelling current Business AAdvantage can I apply?

  5. Alex says:

How sure are we that this isn’t just a “sub” link from the normal offer of 50k pts/3k spend? There is a standard offer currently WITH the 24 month language.

I’ve briefly skimmed over some readings, but is this “no 24 month language” already an established thing from previous posts? I dont know why I’m so hesitant

  6. anne says:

Will the hard pulls be combined if one person card and one business card are applied on the same day? TIA.

  7. Izzy says:

Request a match to 60,000 offer?

  8. dan says:

applied for this biz cc & approved

DOC or any folks know the personal link w/o the 24 mo still available? TIA

  9. Tim says:

Will Citi business cards initiate a credit inquiry on your personal credit bureaus?

  10. Joseph says:

Cancelled card today, but how quickly can I apply again?

  11. Tim says:

I have never had a Citi biz card. So I’m thinking my strategy should be to apply for AAdvantage Biz with the standard language, quickly spend $3000, wait for my bonus points to post, close account, and then sign up for this card. If so, how much time do I need to lapse before signing up for this offer?

  12. Matthew says:

I currently have a Citi TY Biz card, does that mean I can apply for this AA card too? I thought Citi’s rule was no more than 1 business card at a time.

    • Abey says:

If you read the entire post. Chuck clearly says:
Also note that you won’t be able to hold two of the same business cards so if you currently have this card version you’ll have to cancel it before applying.

      • Alex says:

And if you read Matthew’s post, he clearly asks a different question. His concern is if he has ANOTHER Citi biz card, would he be able to apply for a DIFFERENT Citi biz product

        • Matthew says:

Thanks Alex for pointing that out. I could just close the Citi ThankYou biz card and hopefully get it again. Actually, I’m not sure if it has the 24 month language in it, as it is a branch only offer. I keep thinking I will take advantage of the 3x rewards, but between my Ink, Prestige and AT&T More card – I don’t think I will ever have a use for it. I also feel I could put myself at risk for closing a Citi biz card just to open another one. I probably would not be auto-approved as I have a lot of Citi cards/credit line.

      • Arnold says:

        > Also note that you won’t be able to hold two of the same
        > business cards so if you currently have this card version
        > you’ll have to cancel it before applying

This is not true – at least not for everyone.

  13. Carl says:

    Wow, great offer.

Signed up and auto approved for 3 of 3 – wife, daughter (20) and myself.

this will make business card #: me 5, wife 4, daughter 1.

Both wife and I and daughter did the no 24 month links in end of 2016.

Thank you! Another 150k AA miles. Now need to wait to use my targeted mailer.

Does anyone know if the targeted mailers will bypass 2/65 rule?

  14. Bo says:

Instant approval. Just applied two cards in the past two months.

  15. Abey says:

so do i cancel my business card today and apply a week later for it?
Im over my head with two SPG business cards.
Cant spend so much. Already have 4K in amex gift cards sitting.

  16. Bruce says:

Any data points as to how long we need to wait before applying after cancelling current card?

  17. quasimodo says:

approved for a large credit limit…

got the 12/27 but missed out on getting the 2nd one (too late)…probably better that way…biz cards more friendly to report.

what to use all these miles for….??

  18. Joe says:

I opened Citi AA BIZ card last August, and got 50000 miles last Oct. Right now that Citi AA BIZ is still open. Can I jump for this offer and get 50000 miles?

  19. Kyle says:

Hmm I’m confused by this since you could have multiple personal AA cards with the no 24 month language without having to close them. Are there DPs that confirm you can’t have 2 AA biz cards even if they’re no 24 month language? No doubting you Doc just wondering

    • Abey says:

Good question. I was wondering the same.
Since i was able to get approved for 2 AA platinum cards by explaining them i wanna put different spend on each card.
Maybe the same goes with the AA Business cards, I need two for different business spend.
And since i already have one aa business open i should just apply and see what happens but i just cant reach so much minimum spend, i just got the SPG business cards for me and gf and thats $16K spend in 6 months.
(I dont like the MS VGC money order saga)
But to stay on point. Ye its a very good question. Why not have two business cards for different spend? They allow it with the personal cards.

  20. DDG says:

Regarding applying for this card while having two personal cards in last 65 days, the issue might be with using SSN in the business application. System auto denies since same SSN is applying for 3rd card in 65 days. Did you guys use SSN in application or EIN?

    DP here

  21. Curmudgeon says:

I’m not eligible but snagged one for my wife. Auto approved and we can always use an extra 50k AA miles.

I’ve now received the following thanks to DoC’s “no-24” language posts:
    – Citi AA personal 60k miles
    – Citi Hilton 75k points
    – Citi AA Biz (wife) 50k miles

    Thanks DoC!

  22. PG says:

One auto approval and one pending. Thanks Doc!

  23. Frank says:

if applied with EIN do you still get a hard pull on personal score?

    • Cytraveler says:

Yes, they make the hard pull from the officer that you list with that social security number. Even if the business itself is big enough to have a Dun and Bradstreet score, it will pull from your personal credit.

  24. Rob W says:

Instant approval for me today… say, does anyone know if the 2xAA miles on “certain office supply” merchants includes Staples?

  25. lingua says:

Any good general DoC posts on AA miles? I am unfamiliar on their worth in exchanging and have never had any…yet. I’ve searched through some posts/responses with no luck on examples an ease of use.

  26. Ben says:

I recently (2 weeks ago) product changed my AA Biz card (opened 1 year ago) to a ThankYou Biz card. Does that count in Citi’s 91 day biz card rule? I’m thinking it doesn’t, but just wanted to make sure.

  27. fauxblogger says:

Friendly PSA before you SD the CitiAA Biz card: Citi periodically reviews accounts for lack of use and cancels infrequently used cards with no prior notice and no explanation. Since these typically come with large $20K+ credit lines, this can adversely impact your credit score and erode leverage with Citi on future cards. I’ve lost CitiBiz and 2 CitiBronze recently due to this policy ($60K credit line). In my case, 8 consecutive months of no use.

    • Arnie says:

IMHO letting any credit card sit for 8 months without any activity at all is not smart – at least not if you want to maintain any sort of relationship with that bank or have one in the future. Yeah, I “sock drawer” cards, too, but I make a point of pulling each one out of mothballs every few months and run a small charge or two on each. Honestly, is that so hard? Doesn’t seem hard to me (and yes, I have a lot of cards). Cost of doing business.

  28. Alex says:

Cancelled Biz card yesterday, applied online today and was approved for 20k limit. Not bad for another 50k in AA points! Thanks as usual DOC

    • Raol says:

How did that work? I closed mine and reapplied and have been denied approval saying i had this card in the past. what should i do now? Any help/input/advice will be appreciated

  29. Alex says:

Is there a bonus tracker for Citi Biz cards? I know very little about the tracker but have heard it mentioned a few times

  30. Df says:

I applied for the city personal card back in December. Although I had the card before I used the link without the 24 month language. Had to go thru some hoops to finally get it including sending my tax return ( have a number of current Citi card including city prestige). I have hit the minimum spend and am waiting on my points. Fingers crossed.

Today I applied for the business card. Although I had the business card in the past I had canceled it. Application immediately went pending. I called the reconsideration line and all they wanted was a verification of the address and was instantly approved. Unsolicited the representative said I am eligible for the 50,000 miles. I suppose I should’ve asked about the 60,000 match but did not want to push it.

  31. Andy says:

Probably a redundant question, but does this count against 5/24?

  32. Moe says:

Recently closed a Citi Business card. Also applied recently for the 2 Citi personal cards with no 24 month language and was approved. I was declined for this Business card because my credit usage is too new with the personal cards….

  33. Beth says:

Both hubby and I just cancelled AA business cards a few weeks ago as the annual fees were due and we had completed retention offers twice on the cards. Thought we’d have to wait 24 months and weren’t sure if having milked the cards via retention bonuses was going to be a black mark against us. So we were really happy to both get approved instantly. Doc-thanks for finding and posting this. As always you do great work for us.

  34. custom says:

If I got this straight, I should cancel all of my AA card(s) before applying for this in order to be eligible for the bonus? Thank you.

  35. bellevuemike says:

Canceled the same biz card (different biz name) 2 days ago. My wife canceled her biz card (same) with different biz name on the same day. Both legit small businesses.

I just applied under this link for the same card under the biz name my wife used previously and she applied swapping the same. Both instantly approved. Maybe we would have been approved even using the same biz name as used previously.

48 hour wait with most of that over the weekend.

Is there a way to match these to 60K like the personal card?

Anyone know if TWO people can apply for this card using the SAME biz name?

  36. bellevuemike says:

Also should note, when I applied for the personal version of this card 3 weeks ago they pulled from one c bureau…..Transunion. For the biz card they pulled from only one as well, but it was Experian.

  37. Brandon Leong says:

Anyone else having problems? I got routed to a page that doesn’t exist when I submitted.

  38. tommyvdp says:

Is there a way to transfer the miles out of this account before closing the card? I am just thinking if I do not have a trip to take before the second annual fee comes up I would like to keep the miles and close the card.

  39. dan says:

chuck or anyone, mine received the letter w/o showing or mentioning of any sign-up bonus! in this case, should we call or ask citi to clarify or confirm? the appl was instantly approved online so had no need to call to confirm at that time

I had a AA Biz for about 9 mos but closed it around last Nov.

    • P says:

This happened to me last December. I just secure messaged them right away and the Rep that responded confirmed it was attached.

      • dan says:

thx, asked to confirm the sign-up bonus during a call for card activation & was told that the bonus does attach to the acct.

    • Curmudgeon says:

I didn’t get the 50,000 mile bonus wording on the documentation either, but when I called to activate the card the rep explained the 50k bonus without me even asking, so maybe it’s just how they do things on the biz side.

  40. sdsearch says:

Is this your typo or theirs?

“First checked bag free on domestic American Airlines and US Airways itineraries […]

Boarding Privileges with Group 1 on American Airlines domestic flights and Zone 2 on US Airways operated domestic flights

Card earns at the following rates:
2x miles on American Airlines and US Airways purchases”

US Airways hasn’t existed in any form for quite a while. It is no longer possible to fly a US Airways operated flight or make a US Airways purchase.

  41. Chris says:

Do you think 24 hours wait between closing and opening a new card is enough during the weekend?

  42. Cytraveler says:

DP that addresses a few points. I was nervous because the personal link seems to have disappeared again (applying for my husband) so I went ahead and applied for the biz earlier than I might have otherwise.

    1. Cancelled my biz card late last night through secure website. Confirmed by calling this morning that it was cancelled.
    2. Had 5 hard pulls on Experian since Nov. 1 – many more if you go back before 6 months. So this would be my 6th.
    3. Got personal card on 1/6/17 and 2/11/17, so I’m within the 60 days if they are combining personal and biz.
    4. It’s for a smallish biz (same one the cancelled card was for), only $3500 annual revenue listed. I do have an EIN.
    5. Approved this morning with $20k credit limit (why I would need $20k for a $3.5k business is beyond me, but apparently the algorithms aren’t too refined).

  43. Beth says:

DP on matching. Got the card. There was no paperwork mentioning the 50,000 offer. During activation phone call asked the representative what the date was for my 3 months to spend $3000 and he confirmed the 50,000 mile bonus. Then logged into account and sent message asking to be matched to the 60k offer. (In this case my spouse actually received a mailer offering the 60k so it was an easy request to make) The response was that they credited my AA account with 10,000 extra miles immediately!

  44. Bob says:

    1) Is this business 50k offer with no language of 24 month restriction still valid?
    2) What number to call for reconsideration if not instantly approved?
    3) How to get matched for 60k offer? What proof do i offer/show them to be matched for 60k offer?

    Plz reply at the earliest.

  45. Pat says:

I closed my Citi Business Card and reapplied after waiting for 1 week. not instantly approved and when i called reconsideration line they said it was not approved as i had this card in the past (closed previous card in Jan 2017). Is this Normal? From reading all posts above, i guess i am the only person to hear this kind of reasoning for not getting approved.

Any DP on this? What should i do now?

    • Chuck says:

Sounds like a pretty normal thing for a rep to say. You can try reopening the closed card (if you want to) and see if they agree.

      • Pat says:

Thanks but if i reopen the closed card, how would i get the bonus?

And how to overcome ‘This pretty normal thing for a rep to say” that others have not encountered here commonly?

  46. Rose says:

Do I need to have a business permit/license/certificate to be qualified to apply for this business credit card?

  47. TWoK says:

Will, I just received my card and the welcome letter. Where personal cards normally say something along the lines of “Make the most of your card… Earn 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage… after $3,000 in purchases…” if one is eligible for the bonus there is no such language in my business welcome letter. Bonus was confirmed when activating the card, but I believe that has been less reliable. Hopefully I get it, but is this normal business welcome letters not contain the bonus language? This is my first Citi business card since their 24 month rules.

  48. why1818 says:

Link is dead after clicking the “Submit” button. Please update.

  49. why1818 says:

Thank you. Since you said it’s fine for you, so I tried again and it worked. This is the error message I got earlier:

“We’re very sorry, but the page you are looking for cannot be found. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please visit View All Cards to see the current list of available products and offers from Citi Credit Cards.

    Error Page Exception

The lesson is DO NOT click the “Printer-Friendly Version” link in the Terms and Conditions section. It will bring up a new window and your application will throw server error. The reason I clicked the link was because to save a copy of the T&C in case Citibank does not honor the 50K signup bonus. This happens in Chrome and Firefox browser.

Hope this is helpful to others. Thanks again!

  50. Ben says:

    Hi Will,

So I applied with the link and got immediately denied. The letter I received said that I got denied because I already have a Citibusiness AAdvantage card. I had opened one over a year ago but product changed it to the Citibusiness Thank you card in early February.

After calling in I got two different answers. First CSR said that on their end it still shows up that I have a Citibusiness AA card open. But if I close that out on the backend, then they can approve me for the card. A second, maybe higher, CSR said that they can’t approve me for it because I already had this card less than 24 months ago.

What do you suggest me to do? Close my Citibusiness Thank you account and call reconsideration again?

    • Not too sure what the best course of action is, seems strange that it would show as still open even after a product change but business cards might act differently to personal.

  51. Alex says:

I get an error that says “A system error has caused a delay in processing your application” when I click the link (tried multiple browsers, incognito, etc)

  52. Anita says:

Is this offer dead? or maybe just this link is dead?. I also get error “A system error has caused a delay in processing your application” when I click the link (tried multiple browsers, incognito, etc)

  53. Jessica says:

Makes me so sad…. RIP Citi AA no 24 month links, gone forever!

  54. Pat says:

looks like this link is dead now.

  55. Kevin says:

Do Citi business cards have the bonus tracker like Citi personal cards?

I signed up for this and don’t see it on my business login.

  56. Solomon says:

Can we redeem miles for cash Statement credit?

  57. VIJAY says:

    I got a mail for 65k. Is it a good offer ?

  58. Frank says:

FYI, I used the direct link above and just noticed the card they sent me was a personal card, not a business card….now counted against my 5/24 🙁
