The Offer
- New York City is offering $100 to individuals who get a Covid booster shot at a New York City-run vaccine location or through the City’s in-home vaccination program between December 21, 2021 and December 31,2021.
You’ll get the $100 to your email as a virtual prepaid debit card. There are other reward options other than the $100:
NYC Ferry 10-Ride Pass, Statue of Liberty and accompanying ferry ticket, NYC Public Markets gift cards ($25), Snug Harbor family membership, Family fun wristband and free ride on the Cyclone at Luna Park in Coney Island.
Our Verdict
Wow, that’s a nice incentive. Note, you must have a valid New York City address on file to be eligible.
There’s also an interesting referral program for organizations who refer their members to get booster shots; the organization gets $100 per referral, up to $20,000. Details here. I can see this being a nice fundraiser for colleges, clubs, religious institutions and the like, but I’m not sure if the person getting the shot then forfeits their own $100.

He is probably good—-unless he’s old, in an at-risk group, or you’re concerned about long covid—but of course that isn’t the point of the vaccines. Clamping down on potentially worse mutations, reducing hospitalizations to a more manageable number, helping those in at-risk groups…those were always the goals. It was never stopping the virus in its tracks.
The anti-vaxxers couldn’t care less about any of that, though. They only consider how it affects them personally, and even THEN they’re still in the wrong since the vaccines do work to the extent necessary to make them worthwhile. Such a silly hill to die on.
You are not. Vaccines are not 100% effective and efficacy goes down over time. Is that a surprise? It’s science, not magic.
It really is breathtaking to see folks so uninformed on vaccines that have now been around for nearly a year when all it would’ve taken is a 5-min google search to get the gist of the science—and expectations—involved. It’s not at all surprising a mutation occurred which the vaccines don’t do as well against in terms on infections (but thankfully do well against severe infections), especially with so much of the world still unvaccinated.
Pretty clear which folks get their news from Facebook/right-wing sites making money off the anti-vax stance vs those who get it from more reputable sources (and I’m not even talking about the MSM, which has politicized the pandemic to an extent by overhyping the risk of death relative to the general population).
I booked an appointment on vax4nyc.nyc.gov and right after I got my booster, I got an email with the following:
“You will receive an email at this address within 5 days with instructions on how to redeem your $100 virtual prepaid debit card.”
I wonder why they always hand out prepaid debit cards rather than ACH/venmo transfers.
No amount of money could get me to get a clot shot for a heavily politicized cold and be complicit with this hysteria, and its not even a vaccine as you cant make a vaccine against a coronavirus, the same way you cant get a vaccine for getting a cold. These bureaucrats are insane.

Stop listening to the The Ministry of Truth, most of the country has been back to normal or never partook in this hysteria outside of a few crazy places like NYC. This is a pandemic of the mind
no matter how many times you say that doesn’t make it true. Unless there is something they aren’t telling us about the virus (like its a mild flu upfront with a AIDS that hits 5 years later) it’s endemic and just another respiratory illness that impacts the elderly and unhealthy more so than others. Take your vaccine if you want it, but I am not willing to have my freedom infringed upon over this.
If I had a dollar for every time someone misappropriated the word freedom I’d be rich enough to not spend another second coming to DoC (no disrespect to the site!)

You seem like the kind of guy that would probably hang out in men’s restrooms a lot so maybe you can relate- have you seen these signs up that tell restaurant employees they have to wash their hands ‘due to health code guidelines’ after taking a dump!? Can you believe that BS!? I sure didn’t vote for any health code or soap manufacturer to tell me or anyone else what to do. Big soap is in on this one for sure. Getting the bureaucrats out of the bathroom is the only way we’re going to be able to spread freedom as much as possible, I don’t know anyone that ever got sick from not washing their hands, WHY ARE WE LISTENING TO THE PROPAGANDA?!?

Personally, my world has never revolved around the pandemic nor getting off on the idea of sticking it to the evil bureaucrats. Just followed the science and moved on with my life. It’s really not hard.
