PenFed To Acquire NRA Credit Card Portfolio From FNBO (NRA Card To Be Replaced By Platinum Rewards)

FNBO & PenFed have come to a mutual agreement for PenFed to acquire and service the NRA credit card portfolio. On April 24th, 2020 existing cardholders will be converted to a PenFed Platinum Rewards Visa card, although users must become a member of PenFed prior to this card. FNBO had previously announced in 2018 that they would not renew the NRA cobrand credit card deal. It’s interesting that PenFed is dropping the NRA branding, either NRA wasn’t able to find a new co-branded partner or the PenFed deal was the best available or simply the co-branded partnership doesn’t make enough money for them to really worry about it all in the first place.

1.) Discover did NOT give money to BLM. (Get your facts straight!)

2.) Cancelling your account with Discover actually LOWERED your FICO Score!

I saw online that their Cash Rewards card offered a $100 bonus, so I took a chance and charged $1,500 on the converted card to meet bonus requirements. Got the account credit today

The new pen fed card sucks. They have charged my card 4.50 bucks since I aquired it. Charges for paper work vs. Electronic bullshit. I canceled my card today.

While my FNBO NRA card was active… I only made donations to the NRA, GOC, CRPA, and purchased firearms. Making sure to pay the balance, in full, every month;)

What a shame, I had the NRA visa card with the idea that some rewards or proceeds would go toward supporting my second amendment right. Got a notice in the mail that the card would be changing, and now feel like i should just cancel it because the change was a product of some anti gun liberal bullshit. The people in this country that want to infringe on our right to bear arms are shameful. I can offer support to the NRA, and don’t need the gullible credit card company to do it for me.

Isn’t anyone concerned that PenFed can open a bank account in your name without any authorization from you!!

Just watch Live PD and you will know who you have to watch out for. It should be mandatory to watch.

Just got off the phone with FNBO. There are no conversion possibilities from either the old or new NRA cards to the Ducks Unlimited card. I was told if I wanted to keep the account with FNBO, they would convert it to their basic card which has 1% cashback.

The only way to get the Ducks card is to apply for it directly and take the hit on the inquiry and new account.

I sent FNBO an online message asking for details about the opt out and got this reply today that seems to contradict what they told you:

Thank you for contacting First Bankcard.

In 2018, First Bankcard made a business decision to not renew our contract to issue its NRA Visa Card. PenFed Credit Union is acquiring and will begin servicing your credit card account on April 24, 2020. If you choose to not become a member of PenFed or participate in this conversion, you have until February 10, 2020, to opt out. Please note, all opt-outs will be considered final. Once a customer has opted out, their account will remain at First Bankcard.

Through April 17, 2020, you can continue to redeem points like you do now. Any points not redeemed by April 17, 2020 will transfer to PenFed on April 24, 2020.

If you opt out at PenFed, your rewards program will remain the same, except NRA membership and donation options will no longer be available.

To learn more, please visit http://www.penfed.org/optout/conversion [penfed.org] or call PenFed at 1-844-627-1448.

Sincerely,

I just came here for thought-provoking views on the complexities of modern gun control policy. This comment section is a dumpster fire.

I get that FNBO cut the NRA affiliation. But what’s the point of PenFed acquiring those customers if PenFed isn’t going to give them an NRA card? How will those customers feel about being sold and converted to a “5x gas, 3x grocery” card when the points aren’t quite worth a cent and Ducks Unlimited cardholders continue to get 5% back buying guns at sporting goods stores?

There is no point to it, either change to Pen Fed or cancel your card completely. If its not going to support the NRA no longer, it’s worthless. Giving in to political pressure over a credit card is dumb and i hope their business suffers.
