Pricing Mistakes At KrisFlyerSpree.com

KrisFlyer (Singapore Airline’s loyalty program) recently launched their own shopping portal, it looks like the site currently has a bunch of pricing mistakes on it. These deals are clearly pricing mistakes, when you click the calculator next to a deal for example it’ll show 1/10th of the miles displayed at the top of the page. The amount of miles on offer for these programs are also 10x what is being offered at other portals.

These deals are a risk and you should be fully aware of this before signing up. Do not do these deals unless you’re comfortable with not getting the full amount of miles shown.

Deals Worth Looking At

You need to keep in mind that it’ll take up to 90 days for miles to post. This means that offers requiring a subscription could be more expensive than you’d think at first glance.

Finding Your Own Deals

Rather than relying on the deals that everybody else is doing, it’s well worth finding your own mistakes on the site. Doing this is pretty easy. Follow these steps:

  • Click categories
  • Click A-Z of merchants
  • Sort by most KF miles

You’ll now have a list of offers that payout the most KrisFlyer miles.

Our Verdict

There are a number of factors which will determine whether this deal is worth it for you:

  • How long you need to stay subscribed to these services to get your miles
  • How much you value KrisFlyer miles
  • How much you like/dislike arguing with a company to get the stated miles

KrisFlyer have been good about honoring pricing mistakes on revenue based flights in the past, that said this offer has been posted on every major travel hacking website so the sheer number of people signing up for these deals will be huge.

I’m going to give these deals a wide berth. I think that Singapore Airlines is going to make it a real struggle to get all of the points advertised. I also suspect that they will require you to stay signed up for these programs for a long period of time (and this length of time is not specified anywhere in the fine print). It’s up to you if the risk is worth it or not.

They also charge fuel surcharges when you redeem your points for international flights. Singapore Airlines also have a hard expiry date of three years after the miles are earned, there is no way to extend this (you can pay for a six month extension). This means you must use these miles as soon as possible.

In total you could earn 60,000 miles which would be enough for one way ticket anywhere in the world. View more options with their award chart found here. They are also a star alliance partner.
