Do you think one could use the Alaska Lounge AND Point The Way Cafe, same day, before the flight? For example, if Im flying with 3 guests, I can only get 2 into the Lounge, and then I later take the remaining guest to the Cafe, would they allow this? Or heck, If I wanted to just go to both before my flight, is that allowed?

AFAIK, each lounge/restaurant function independently of each other. There were plenty of DP of people going from lounge to lounge during the same trip.

Dang! My wife and I were just in T6 last month. Our red-eye flight home was delayed 2 hours. This would have been nice to have. Unlucky timing on my part. Hopefully next time we can use the PP restaurant.

SO what are the odds running they’re still in the program next month?

Imho PP needs a few restaurants to join at LAX all at the same time to prevent the bad situations they keep finding themselves in…

T6 is the AS terminal where the AS lounge is a phony PP lounge so this restaurant would most likely be overrun just by passengers at T6.

Dont think passengers use other terminals would make the trek there. They would go to TBIT for PF Chang, and then may use the KE lounge at T4. Pretty much like that each time we pass thru LAX.

T6 is fairy easily accessible to UA, AA and AS flights so that’s half of LAX (sans TBIT) with walkable post-security access. KE is only open during certain hours (and SUCKS. It’s the only lounge I’ve ever left because it was more miserable than being in the terminal due to the number of people packed in there and their level of rude, first time I’d experienced being somewhere with a bunch of PP people- we all were waiting for the open to PP and J passengers were pulled out of the line for immediate access so I knew what everyone used- and omg most of the PP passengers were rude. Felt so bad for actual KE biz class passengers. I remember some older J class couples looked like deer in the headlights trying to understand WTH was happening…) and PF Chang’s is international flights only (according to the PP website). This new PP place is about to get a LOT of business. With Amex out of play maybe they’ll be able to handle it?

Only one data point but I was in that lounge for an early AS flight last week and it was amazing. I always feel a bit of a phoney with my PP card vs travellers with millions of miles or segments with Alaska.

In any case, I was very warmly welcomed by the front desk, the place was 10% full at most, the F1 GP was on the TV 🙂 and they seemed to be serving food and taking it to tables – eggs and quiches as far as I could tell (I had already eaten) – as opposed to just the bagels and pastries near the entrance.

All in all, it was a really great experience but I realize I may have lucked out being there early for a ~7am flight.

Are you supposed to the the card tied to the Priority Pass account to pay the remaining balance and tip in restaurants?

I was in a PP restaurant with friends last week and we maxed out the benefit. They asked to see PP membership first and I showed them the one in my PP app which is tied to my CSR account. When it came time to pay, I realized I didn’t have my CSR card with me and they didn’t take Apple Pay so I used my Amex Plat. I was expecting them to back out the discount but they didn’t and it all seemed to work okay – no extra charges on either account for the difference.. So far! 🙂

It does not matter which credit card used to pay the overage and tips.
The PP card itself has already had the related CC info and restaurant’s PP device can tell whether this particular PP card has the benefit or not. That is why the restaurant wanted to see the PP first – to determine whether your PP is eligible for the benefit – if not, they will tell you that you would be paying the full amount without PP credit, and if you still want to dine there.

Got it – thanks. I was a bit worried the restaurant or even the server would be left to cover the shortfall but sounds like that’s not the case.

Dine In only. “…The US$28 is valid for the purchase of any meal and/or drinks excluding ‘To-Go Orders’ and ‘Grab and Go’…” https://www.prioritypass.com/en/lounges/usa/los-angeles-ca-lax-intl/lax18d-point-the-way-cafe

So I happen to have the previously-marginal US Bank Altitude Reserve card. I say “previously marginal” because unless you’re willing to work to maximize their mobile wallet bonus category, renewing the card after the first year was pretty much a wash. But now, this card seems to be the only relatively-low-cost way to get into an airport Priority Pass restaurant for free. Alas, you get a fairly paltry 8 visits — and each person, including each guests, counts as its own visit. I will certainly have to ration myself in using the benefit.

Is there any other realistic way to get Priority Pass restaurant access without paying a credit card fee that costs more than the actual restaurant benefit? I’ve never really looked into the Chase Sapphire Reserve card: if I’m at 5/24, is there any way to convert an existing Chase card? Previously, I didn’t feel I needed this card. I’d also hate to get it and then have them eliminate THEIR restaurant benefit!

You can convert CF, CFU, CSP to CSR for sure. Idk about a Chase Slate.

If you’ll be under 5/24 soonish you’re better off to get the card new then and bag the bonus offer.

From DoC, a list of PP offering cards: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/credit-cards-offer-priority-pass-memberships-compared-differences/ You aren’t going to get restaurant benefits for under $400 AF. What you need to compare is the AF-$$$ value you’ll get out of the benefits to see what the “actual” AF is to you. Don’t include PP benefits in the calc imho because they are subject to too much change.

Also my AR has grown on me. I only kept it because of the retention offer but I’m glad I did. The 1.5x Real-time reward redemption that works on Uber & Lyft is working quite nicely for me.

What retention offer did you get?

10k points. Some people are offered it, some aren’t. I didn’t even put much extra spend on it after hitting MSR so no idea what makes USBank tick there.

The CSR net AF is $150 because the $300 Travel Credit is exceedingly easy to use – airfare, hotel, train incl the commuter trains, parking, taxi, Uber, ferry, cruise… I am sure anyone who needs PP benefit would have no problem to spend $300 on Travel related charges, therefore reduce the AF to $150.

Then the UR pts in theory is worth 1.5c per pt when you use them to book travel thru UR portal – as limited as it is, it is still relatively easy to recoup the remaining $150, especially UR pts can often earned with very very low cost.

The CDW coverage is relatively easy to claim based on our experience – it took exactly 7 calendar days from submitting the claim online to give instruction to eClaim for ACH reimbursement to our bank, on a <1300 euro claim.

net AF is actually slightly more ($160+) because you don’t get cashback on travel credit

If one can get the USB AR, it’s pretty good, considering how mobile pay is only getting more accepted everywhere. We have one, and have it one running on 3 devices for payments. (Not paying the AU fee) Works well, and if you know how to use RTR its powerful, esp for hotels and getting your benefits/loyalty as well as portal uplift in some cases.

I realize others might use the PP way more, but I don’t find the cap of visits a limit, as we have so many other PP cards as it is. I might use it 3-5 year. A lot of times if its a tight connection or an outstation there won’t be a PP venue anyways, at least for where we tend to travel

Marginal? Haha. 4.5% in rewards towards all mobile purchases + PP + GoGo + Global Entry + Visa Infinite benefits for $75. Can’t find a better deal than that anywhere!
