Our Verdict

Qatar did a similar thing for healthcare workers as well, that was 100,000 tickets and extremely difficult to get. I assume this will be similar or worse, but a free ticket is a free ticket.

My wife won a free ticket. We have attempted to use the promo code on the website and it wants to charge us over$1500 for a trip that meets all of the criteria for a free flight. We called Qatar numerous times. We couldn’t get anyone to answer on the first few attempts. On the final attempt, we had an agent who gave us the same price for the ticket. When we said the promo code we gave him was for a free ticket he hung up on us! Anyone have any luck actually booking a free trip? Thanks.

Was lucky enough to get one. In the tc, “ The promo code is valid for a single booking for one adult ticket (age 12+) and is valid on Qatar Airways operated return (roundtrip) itineraries worldwide, excluding codeshare and interline partnerships”.

What does the ‘return’ part mean? I have to book a round trip and only the return is free?

Thanks for any help.

Return = British English for “round trip”. So it’s saying it’s valid on Qatar round trips worldwide.

To be clear, both ways are “free” (apart from taxes).

I successfully entered my data on exactly 9PM EST the second day and got the “You should receive an email in 48 hours” message. However more than 48 hours have passed and haven’t received any email, I’m also checking my spam folder. Has anyone received an email for this?

Note that they did update the terms to say “country” instead of “county”.

“ Eligible participants must reside in a country where Qatar Airways operates direct flights through Doha.”

Not entirely clear, but from my reading University professors probably aren’t eligible?

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable putting in your passport number and your work ID number? I know they have to verify but this feels accounts could be hacked pretty easily.
