Our Verdict
I don’t see this bonus when logged in, FM seems to think it’s available to everybody but I’m less certain that’s the case especially with how generous this bonus is. I could very well be wrong though as it’s possible I installed it in the past? If you don’t already have an account you can get a $30 referral bonus currently as well. You can convert eBates/Rakuten cash back into American Express membership rewards as well at a 1¢ = 1 point rate which is nice.

I didn’t get the purple $20 popup a couple days ago when DoC posted this, just kept getting the white popup that doesn’t offer any reward. Logged in today and finally got the purple $20 popup. Installed and reward appeared in my account immediately. Same for P2’s account.
My account showed the 2k banner. Installed and posted immediately. P2’s account showed the banner but no mention of the 2k. I installed anyway. The points didn’t post immediately, so I assumed it didn’t work, but I checked today and the 2k points are now showing on her account as well.
I visit the Rakuten site daily using Chrome. After days of trying and refreshing, I finally got the pop up with the 2000 points offer tonight. The 2000 points posted almost instantly. I don’t know what triggered the pop up, but I did buy something through the portal yesterday.
When I log in I see a pop-up about installing the extension, but it makes no mention of the bonus for doing so (and it’s white vs. purple).
