What does Speedway do for MSers that’s so special?
Main concern I think doc is referencing is what will happen to speedway’s at times very “useful” gift card deals…. (which you can buy with cc’s) At my local 7-11’s, they stopped accepting credit cards for gift card purchases long ago. Time to “make hay” while sun still shines.
And it’s quite the opposite in my area. Speedway won’t let me use credit (as sometimes not even DEBIT – Cash only) on gift cards. I have a few 7-11’s that are cool with using credit for VGC. I used to be able to get Money Orders with debit before Speedway bought out all my GIANT locations and switched to cash only. I hope 7/11 eases those restrictions.
This is the same in my area as well. I can’t use CC for gift card purchases at Speedway, but most of the 7-11s in my are are good to go with CC for VGCs even if it’s only really low volume.
It’s not just legacy Speedway stations that are part of this. Marathon bought USA Gas last year, and is now changing many USA Gas stations to Speedway.
I’m sitting on a few Speedway gift cards. I’m thinking I’d better use them quickly.
So am I. Would 7-Eleven not honor them, at least for a while?
i have a few as well, but I don’t really see a reason to be concerned? It’s not like they’re going to rebrand as 7-11, at least I don’t think they would
Even if they rebrand the cards will still be good. 7-Eleven bought the entire business, including the gift card liabilities.
I think you have 6+ months easily with nothing to worry about.
7-11 bought a bunch of the Sunocos in my area over a year ago and the only changes have been some new 7-11 foods, packaged items, and a different ATM. They’re still branded as Sunoco gas stations.
I have 14,000+ points. Time to redeem them.
