Recap: Centurion Suite Review, RAT Regret & More

  • Will Amex Come to Regret Creating RAT (Rewards Abuse Team)? by Rapid Travel Chai. Interesting article, I think with the recent Staples deal American Express is footing the deal so that was always going to be ‘fixed’ regardless of whether there was a RAT or not.
  • Wyndham Tempting Me With Their Latest Timeshare Offers by Miles to Memories. Not bad given the points are enough for a free night anyway. Always remember to call in to get a better than advertised deal “I’m interested in going but my partner needs more convincing that it won’t be a waste of our vacation”.

It’s the end of the month so I won’t post the deals expiring at the end of the day as there are too many to list. You can view them all here.

I am ecstatic….abusers are finally getting punished. We all are getting punished but these abusers getting hit for 10k, is amazing. Drinking to that…..it is these massive abusers who in their greed to eat more than their stomach can digest and then have diarrhea that stinks air all around them…..who have killed all sweet deals like this in the past………..as such i want more n more crackdowns and want all useless nondeserving folks who get lunge benefits/business and 1st class seats to be wiped off, as just churning cards frequently n repeatedly gets them such benefits when these high school dropouts making $10 at Mcdonalds can reap same benefits as a doc or lawyer or CEO who worked their BUTT OFFS to achieve Higher status………and i find one sitting next to me with no manners on a 1st class seat? or hogging my seat in an overcrowded lounge? come on, WTF!!!!!!!

Man, not sure I want to sit next to KP ever. Let those people earning minimum wage game the system a little- isn’t that what sites like these are about? If you’re some big shot doctor or lawyer you should probably just lay off the points game and leave a little more for the rest of us.

The comment about minimum wage was unwarranted, but come on you’re deluding yourself if you think these 10k abusers are making minimum wage lol.

I’m with KP on this one. Everyone loves free perks (Doc or Lawyer or Businessman or Minimum Wager$) but when over greed takes over to bite more and more, it destroys everything as repeatedly seen. GAME
OVER Then. But then Greed for
More has led to several wars and destruction historically. Cheers 🍻 to the Dastards who’ve lost 10K with AMEX deal, they deserved it.👊👊

For anyone who’s actually read the article by Point Me to the Plane: plums are wonderful.

Wow, that’s quite a ridiculous stretch! Especially since the author doesn’t know a damn thing about the inner workings of AMEX or how big (or small) the RAT team is or really anything about them.

I only see AMEX cracking down on the biggest gamers, I don’t see average customers having a problem, or even the casual gamer.

I just have difficulty taking serious people who say “I deserve loopholes.”

+1 If people are “losing” 10k on these clawbacks, this the kind of extreme abuse that ruins deals for the rest of us and I’m glad to see AMEX cracking down. Get rid of the bad apples and the rest of us will be fine.

+2 Exactly. The people losing 10k are the ones who absolutely DESERVE to get shutdown because they are the bad apples that ruin a good thing for everybody.

I agree 300%…….wish they lost more than 10k. Wish Chase clawed back the UR points earned on that Tesla Car Buyer too………

Yeah that guy single handedly killed 3x UR points on Plastiq. Not to mention paying $60k for a Model 3 LOL what a tool. Fuck that guy.

Will Amex come to regret weeding out money-losing loopholes and focusing their business on customers that stand a better chance of making them a profit? Uh, no.

they will care (remember what the housewives of the 1970’s did by stopping buying coffee for a short time . . . brought the coffee producers, etc. to their knees) If we all stick (stuck) together (were united) they would relent

Housewives in your example had market influence and power because of their numbers. We are probably less than 1% of credit card business and are a disproportionate expense to them. We are the “bad” of the saying”you take the good with the bad”. We are the necessary evil because their antiquated computer systems don’t run on sophisticated algorithms to sort us out. As their systems do get more sophisticated we will get shut off from all the best promotions. Chase alone has provided me with probably $25000 in airline fares at a cost to me of maybe $2000 in fees to them. At best they may have gotten $5000 in processing fees from merchants and that is only because I heavily use Chase beyond the sign up bonus requirements. So it makes zero sense for them to want me as a customer. Get it while you can!

No, the bad in “good with the bad” would be the people who rack up loads of debt and disappear. That’s the bad.

They get more leeway from regulators when they have us on their books because we all have stable incomes, FICOs and many years of on time payments as well as a far more vested interest than normal consumers to keep up to date on paying our bills. For the average customer, missing a credit card payment is “just another bill”, for us, it’s potential risk to hundreds of thousands of miles…

“people who rack up loads of debt and disappear. That’s the bad.”

I know a doctor who tells people w/o families who have terminal cancer to max out all their cards and live it up during their remaining months.

Family or not might as well do that. Debts don’t pass on. House should have changed hands well prior.

solid advice. It does not even matter if they have families or not.

true, but don’t underestimate the force( influence or some), there is some strength in numbers . . . S&S relented after several months of not allowing gc purchases w/cc’s (source: management), and simon says they listen constantly to Superstore’s attitude towards $ordahz (source: regional management of guest services) because they have lost lots of $

let’s have someone have a time period, focus, and boycott and all stick together . . . maybe Oct. 26-Dec. 26 no use of JPMC, or AX, or UsBk, (or Bamericard, to show the others . . .) I swear (when it’s set), that I will not be the one to break the covenant that may be made here . . .

Just like when they shutdown all those Redbirds and Serve OneVIPs. We stuck together and they made even better products at Target and Walmart for the general consumer to use. I stood in the customer service line at WM and a guy had both the WM moneycard and serve in his hands and asked the manager what the difference was. He by little means looked like a churner.
