I personally moved away from CHASE during this because their bankers are now getting really sloppy. maybe they are getting crap from CHASE?

one of the recent example is that I booked a CHASE phone call appointment online where CHASE sent multiple emails and reminders to me and the exact banker that CHASE website selected. I had waited 20 minutes before and after through the appointment time, but the banker never called. I called CHASE and got to the banker (because banker’s phone number in the emails went directly to vm) only to hear the banker explicitly told me didn’t he didn’t feel like calling into the appointment because he wants PTO. surprisingly, this banker is a CHASE Private Client banker according to CHASE

if a CHASE Private Client banker can act like this to clients, I don’t think I would want to continue my business with CHASE

Nationalism is the cause of many evils. I wish people were less tribalistic.

Which is exactly why i am 100% certain even if humans had all their needs met they would still have wars. Humans want others to have less than them. It’s relative, not absolute. Studies have been done in chimpanzee troops where all alpha males had died in wars with neighboring troops and only females and beta males were more peaceful. Testosterone is the cause of violence. It’s the poison that everyone hates but it’s still attracted to.

Ouch JPMC CC charge-offs jumped $1.2B between Q1 and Q2 this year. Charge off usually happen at 120-180 days.

Deposits jumped considerably but that could be from CARES, PPP and enhanced unemployment and people not paying rents and mortgages.

“The report highlights the fact that Chase’s overall debit and credit card sales volume fell by 23% YoY’.

Deposits at big banks were up because a lot of people moved funds during the market crash both from the stock market and from smaller, more exposed outfits like local CUs and internet-only more subprime lenders like Ally and Cap1. That money might be moving back into the market now.

Filed a complaint with CFPB over the BBVA bonus. BBVA said I never applied the promo code to my account. I went through their site and promo was applied at open. Usually CFPB is right on it but it’s been about 8 days and no reply back yet.

I’m 1 and 1. Filed a complaint against Citi and got my bonus in record time. Delivered to my doorstep. Filed one against US Bank and lost that one. Long story there. Manager was an A-hole.

You bet CFPB complaints are up… everyone decided their bottom line was more important than doing the right thing for their customers.

Banks, card issuers, (hotels, airlines, and especially online travel agencies) have been really disappointing this year.

I had to file two complaints against Chase on two separate cards, because their Chase Fraud have disabled my whole online access, at the very same time whilst their whole department went entirely offline, in late March or early April. You’d think at least if they can’t staff their dept properly, they wouldn’t disable everyone’s access for very silly reasons? Nope. There was no way to reach Chase during normal business hours. Cards didn’t work for several months.

When I was finally able to reach them to reenable access, they didn’t do anything more than merely call me back to verify it’s me (something that can easily be automated!). What reason for disabling access? Apple Pay. How’s that even reason? Then a few weeks later, the exact same thing. Reason the second time? Still Apple Pay. (Even though the last time any card was added to Apple Pay was during the call to the prior Chase Fraud specialist just a few weeks prior!) It’s beyond absurd. It wasn’t a new phone or anything; used the login on that phone for several months with the Chase apps prior to “Apple Pay”.

Filed another CFPB complaint for them charging a late fee and interest on some small balance after making it impossible to access or pay the bill; and denying recurring transactions. The complaint was taking too long, so, also sent an SM; they removed the fees after SM, but refused to issue any credits for the inconvenience of having recurring transaction declined, on a card that is ONLY ever used for a single recurring transaction monthly (and was never “Apple Pay”).

Meanwhile, Chase Fraud is possibly the only Chase department that is 100% outsourced. If all your departments are outsourced, fine. If you have a façade, and only do it to a trigger-happy Fraud, because you value your customer’s time far below the minimum wage, then there’s a problem. I think it should be illegal to outsource the Fraud dept. If a bank wants to waste my time every time I make a transaction, they should at least pay their agent a prevailing minimum wage for my locale. Otherwise, their engineers and data scientists have exactly zero incentive to make sure their algorithms actually work correctly.

Sheesh, CM, your Chase experience almost made Citi look good. Then I remembered BofA still exists.

Interestingly, I’ve requested from serveral banks fee waivers and used the pandemic excuse. All of them granted my request. So at least there’s that.
