Wonder if Bonvoy points and 35k cert will be useful to Marriotts dalliance in to competition with AirBNB rental market or if one could earn points in exchange for rentals.

I digress it will be interesting to see how valuable and available 35k certs will be for above average $ Redemptions i.e. NYC/SFO/DC.
I am warming to Bonvoy a little (Gold Elite) stays at old SPG property positive, Marriotts neutral to ok.
Did book almost 2 weeks at 4-5 star in So. Africa during peak season (December school holidays) in Capetown, Jo’Burg and @ Safari properties for less than 150k pts.
By the way the have really tweaked the T&C of Bonvoy program since the Feb. revision. Latest is updated April (ongoing?) With tons of little changes and explicit terms and exclusions, wish they put that much effort iand focus on CSR dept. Most glaring “local market determination” so your basically at the whim of the property management and/or discretion.
