- Now Negotiable: Credit-Card Annual Fees by WSJ. This shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise to our readers (I hope you’re all calling retention to get an annual fee reduction/waiver or spending bonus).
- Double Points from World of Hyatt until June 30 by Travel Codex. First promo under the new World of Hyatt program. Pretty average promotion, only kicks in after your first stay and isn’t enough to get me to consider moving stays to Hyatt. Great if you regularly stay with Hyatt anyway.
- [Targeted] Offer for 15,000 Hilton points on your next stay of 2 nights or more. Thanks to reader Jesson for sending this one in.
- Chase sent out targeted spending bonuses for 4,000 points on their British Airways card. Shame it requires $4,000 in spend as well. 2x Avios per $1 spent isn’t awful, but it hardly feels like a bonus worth getting your card out for. Hat tip to reader Adam.
Any dp regarding amex prg retention offers? Its my 1st year(fee waived) and had gotten 50K sign up bonus, signed up in Aug ’16.
Is it possible to get retention via SM rather than calling in?
Whats the miminum most OFFER that amex usually give?
Thanks
I called today as my Ink Plus was up for the annual fee. Asked for any retention offer. Got $95 statement credit, no strings to keep using the card (I’ve spent maybe $25-30k in the past year). Total time: 2 minutes. 🙂
Nice work, is the 25k-30k on 5x categories?
No. Just general purpose business expenses. I doubt more than 4-5k was at the 5x level. It would have been a lot higher if I hadn’t shifted spending to meet the minimums on a couple dozen new cards last year. 🙂
Need to get you maxing out that 5x this year!
I didn’t MS a penny on that card last year. To max out the $50k at 5x would be worth maybe $800 after fees. Not worth the trouble.
