Our Verdict

We see decent deals from them now and then. They have a shopping portal, along with a few other things, like discounted gift card sales. I don’t ever recall seeing a signup bonus for them, so this is nice.

Last month, I made 4 Advance Auto Parts and Auto Zone purchases because their rate was highest at 12%. I received all emails activating them, and two weeks later still no sign of pending cashback. I contacted them a couple of days ago, and they told me to wait 45 days because some merchants take longer. I even used their chrome extension and used their affiliated promo code with cashback.

Their cashback is a hit or miss, but once it shows as pending it will be paid. I have had cases where this has been successful from the get-go and for some I had to contact them which is really annoying when I did everything right. However, I was never denied any cashback whenever I contacted them about missing ones.

What bothers me about this offer is that I’ve already gotten cash back through them, yet they sent me an email about it and I continue to get pop-ups for it whenever I visit their site. Feels like a tease.

I find RMN to be great. Rates are often much higher than anything shown on Cashbackmonitor, funds become available quickly, they don’t revoke the funds for making a return, and no minimum to cash out.

I actually emailed Cashbackmonitor a few weeks ago to ask why they don’t display Retailmenot cashback offers. No response.

So in looking to make this a money maker, I am looking at 5% back at target. The cheapest thing I can pick up in store near me is a kickstart drink for $1.49. I can pay through paypal with my discover card (woo hoo .08!) I don’t really want the drink so I was just going to buy it and then leave it there unless I’m in the area. Will picking up in store count? Hoping this will end in $8+ gain.

Also in the how cash back works segment, retailmenot says, “Just be sure to meet the minimum spend before fees, taxes, shipping & handling, and after any other discounts are applied.” I can’t find anything stating a minimum amount to spend.

Finally, when checking out with target, I don’t see anything in the address bar suggesting the purchase is somehow linked to retailmenot. Any prior experience with this before I proceed is welcomed!

You need to activate a cash back offer, which you’ll get an email verifying and you’ll see the offer activated in “My Rewards” tab. You do need to click through RMN of course like any other portal. It takes a day or two depending on merchant to show up as “XXX let us know you made a purchased, we’ll do our part by such and such date.”

Here’s the full FAQ, it contains the info for the new user bonus: https://help.retailmenot.com/s/topic/0TO1L000000w5UWWAY/online-cash-back-offers?utm_campaign=JulyNewUserBonus_homepage

I should also add I think you have to complete the pickup to complete the sale. Otherwise, Target will void the sale after so many days.

I was afraid I might need to actually pick it up. I don’t see anything in there about a minimum spend amount. I will assume this means that one does not apply in this case. Perhaps some of the other deals have minimums that are listed. Thanks for the help!

When there’s a cash back amount, there’s usually a minimum to spend but you’re trying to to get a bonus so it seems it’s pretty much any qualifying cash back offer will work. Make sure you pay attention to any exclusions and it should be fine if you complete the offer.

I love RMN, have gotten a lot back. Even after they stopped doing the really lucrative cash back options, I’ve found they still have some competitive rates. Just got 16% back on my LLBean purchase from last month. Only downside is that it stays pending for a while. Upside is no minimum to cash out.

Kyle ❤ I’m pretty sure you need to pick up your order. Target’s order pickup policy states that if you don’t pickup your order within 7 days, they will automatically cancel your order and issue a refund. This would void the cashback. Retailmenot should be able to detect the refund.

I don’t think there’s a minimum spend requirement. The FAQ states that cashback offers don’t have a minimum spend amount (unless the terms of the particular offer states that there is).

Unfortunately RetailMeNot has not been worth a click for a few months compared to what it once was.
