This deal has expired and is no longer being offered.
Ride sharing service ReachNow has partnered with Alaska Airlines to offer miles to both riders AND drivers. The rewards are as follows:
- 50 miles for all drives and rides over 10 minutes
- 100 miles for all trips that start of end at the airport
Currently ReachNow is available in Seattle, Portland & Brooklyn. But it looks like this partnership is only for those rides in Seattle. The promotion currently has an end date of May 13th, 2018 and it isn’t clear if it will be extended or not. It’s interesting that they are offering the benefit to drivers as well as riders, as typically we see these partnerships only reward the rider (or as a sign up bonus for new drivers).
I believe the reason it says both riders and drivers is that this includes both one-way car rentals through ReachNow and Uber-like service through their ReachNow Ride app. I don’t think the drivers for the Ride service receive miles.
Ah, that would make more sense.
Please stop calling these businesses “sharing” services. There’s no more “sharing” going on than when you “share” a bus or a flight or a hotel room. “Sharing” isn’t something you pay for. These are transportation companies, just like Hertz or Greyhound or Spirit Airlines. It’s dishonest to call this “sharing”.
Salty much?
Agreed. Not ridesharing.
That’s what they are referred to. People know I’m talking about an uber or lyft alternative when I say ridesharing
By simply repeating a lie, does that make it true?
I don’t think it’s a lie. These are called ride sharing services. I’m sorry you don’t like the terminology but that’s what they are called.
I feel you. The whole “sharing” economy that started booming around 10 years ago was never about sharing, but about renting the same equipment to as many as possible to maximize profits. Sharing is caring; renting is profitable! 🙂
