Heads-up on something I have just encountered. Went to my local RiteAid in the Philly area to pick up the $100 fixed value Vanilla VGCs. Was told by the store manager that they have just implemented a cash-only policy for ALL gift cards they sell, not just variable loads, due to “a scam that’s going around.” Not sure if this is really company-wide or something temporary and local, but if true, RA would become totally useless to most of us.

It’s not company wide. I just purchased a few gc earlier tonight with no issue.

Thanks, good to know. Maybe I’ll try another store then.

No luck at another store either. Called RA Customer Service. The agent confirmed a very recent policy change that ALL gift cards are now cash-only. Bummer.

I’ve found it varies from store to store. If it’s a chain wide policy, they haven’t told all the stores.

It’s worth mentioning that Freedom earns 5x at RiteAid this quarter.

Also, whichever deal has a limit 2, you can just buy one gift card for double the amount and it will work.
