In case you didn’t already know American Express is adding a new benefit to the American Express personal Platinum card where you get a bi-annual $50 credit to Saks Fifth Avenue. You get $50 to spend from January 1st through June 30th and another from July 1st to December 31st. The new benefit will go live on July 1st and requires enrollment. Previously we havAll Linksen’t known what the exclusions are, these haven’t been confirmed but I’m 95% confident they will be as follows:
- Gift card purchases
- Outlet stores/Saks Off Fifth
- Restaurants located within the store
Now in practice you might still be able to make those purchases and get the credit, but the fine print will definitely exclude them. For me the exclusion of gift card purchases makes the benefit significantly less valuable, but it’s better than nothing I guess.
Hope it will just like the airline credit.
No giftcard allowed in the terms.
But get credit back in reality.
Hi would you all suggest if buying online, register July 1st, wait until July 2nd to order? Or maybe register in the morning and order in the evening. Also Shoprunner has free 2 day shipping and returns.
everyone knows TC dont mean anything. its actuals and enforcement.
TC does mean something, as if it wasn’t specifically excluded we could have gotten them to manually post. Obviously it being in the T&C doesn’t mean it is enforced, but it does still matter.
I think it would be processed as coupon just like Uber credit
$500 for a sweater?!
Maybe I can buy a pair of socks instead. Or a can opener, if they even sell that.
Or maybe just a reusable bag with the Saks name and logo.
Or pay shippping on a box of SFAir.
If you cant buy store gift cards. it seems less or no valuable indeed.
June 31st 😀 🙂 LOL
Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. Fixed 😉
95% confident? How did you come to that percentage? Lol.
I thought how confident I was and then I put it in a percentage form. In all seriousness readers asked me to start putting a percentage of confidence into these rumor posts in this case I’m really confident but it’s possible American Express will make a last minute change. Hope that makes sense.
That’s a silly question anyway. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I guess you could always purchase and return the item for store credit (GC) to liquidate the Amex credit. It’s more time consuming and generally considered shittychurning tho for inconveniencing the merchant.
Unless the merchant can do split refund to store credit and Amex card, it’d a pita to find something under $50 and may not worth the effort to return it once you find one.
Is it for in-store or online purchases, or both?
Credit will work both in store and online
+1
