Update 7/9/25: Multiple sources have heard from Chase PR that this rumor is false, and there is no planned increase for the annual fee on the Ritz card.
Original Post 7/4/25:
Multiple rumors are coming out which point to a refresh of the Chase Ritz-Carlton card. The rumor has it that these changes will take effect on August 1, 2025. It’s likely that existing cardholders will keep the older card details for some time beyond August.
Changes:
- Annual fee to increasing from $450 to $695
- $200 renowned resort reservation credit
- Three Ritz-Carlton bar vouchers
Unchanged:
- $300 airline incidental credit
- 85k annual FNC unchanged
- Unlimited priority pass for authorized user cards
- Marriott Gold Elite Status
- Car rental insurance and travel protections stay the same
Overall this sounds like a big negative change if we have all the details. It’s possible there are more benefits or coupons that we haven’t heard yet about. Again, at this point it’s a all just rumors.
I am surprised there is no further discussion on the ritz card. Based on the two bloggers’ posts mentioned by DOC, I am not convinced the price increase rumor is false. Neither of the posts show any proof from chase directly that the price doesn’t change on 8/1. How credible are they? In fact more readers got the opposite from customer service agent when they called in. There is no way all agents are wrong especially on the $695 number. Anyone on this board has updated information?
we will find out soon enough. even if no increased AF, everyone should expect changes soon. this card is def alive and well. and chase not gonna be stupid by losing money on this card wen influencers cant stop talking about it. its essentially backdoor for chase to screw over amex.
I also bet the fee will be increased starting August 1st. No Chase official message was posted to deny this.
Yes. Need to get everyone to sign up for Boundless. Then Chase increases the annual fee for the RC
this is hilarious. just look at the level of activity and coverage for a card no longer directly available to the public.
it doesnt matter the rumors are not true. yes, FOR NOW. chase is not stupid. RC card will change. and i totally expect AF to go $1k vs CSR.
they made a deal w/ marriott and amex. the RC card for chase is a back door win against amex. fueled by ur typical wannabe travel influencer n00b TPG cult followers who heavily advertise this “hack”. i assume amex forgot to include in the non compete contract to limit indirect card acquisitions where pple get entry level marriott cards then PC. i doubt amex will sue.
chase is loving the attn and is fully committed to supporting the RC card as if its still being offered directly. cuz the RC SUB is exactly whatever card you get in order to PC. so in fact, there is a SUB for the RC card + 12 mo lag.
pple gotta understand that for chase to increase the AF, theres shitload pple still getting it. to the point they care.
anyone remembers barclays wyndham rewards caesars diamond strat then shut down? yea. shitload pple doing it. thats why.
I called and PCed my Bonvoy Boundless to a Ritz today. No mention of the increased AF. All terms/benefits were the current version at $450 annual fee. The rep actually misspoke originally and said it was a $395 annual fee, but once we got to disclosures she apologized and said its actually $450.
We reached out to Chase over the holiday weekend for further comment
So I reached out to Chase corporate to see if I could get any information
So I asked Chase for comment about the rumors.
Call the number on the back of your card. Ask the customer service rep.
Chase will do something with the Ritz Card, either nerf the AU Priority Pass access, or charge for AU, but they will do something.
They will not leave the Ritz card a better card than the new refresh CSR
I agree that charging for AU PP access seems like one of the easiest ways to make the card more sustainable. My hope is that such a tiny percentage of Chase customers have the Ritz card (or are even aware of it) that Chase/Marriott won’t risk completely nerfing the card and losing those customers, but I’m sure they’ll eventually do something.
Let’s hope not. We need to stop these bloggers from promoting this card on their channels.
Your readers have not been this excited about a rumor since the last rumor.
Verdict: interesting

“But now that you gave us the idea…”
It’s over Johnny, It’s Over!!! False Rumor but is it now !!! Chase is thinking 🧐 extra revenue for grandfatherd card!!!
Wait till October!!!
Wonder if the rumors about Amex having the exclusive rights to a premium Bonvoy card are true and they shut this down?
That’s not a rumor though? That’s been the case since the introduction of amex bonvoyd cards
Chase may have thought that claim didn’t have any teeth and had to backtrack in the 11th hour.
This just doesn’t come across as a rumor someone in their basement is making up.
What relationship does what you’re saying have anything to do with this?
