A few months ago Sam’s Club had a scan & go promotion where you could get $45 offer your first order. Some people were able to stack deals and come out well ahead and for others the promotion just didn’t work at all. For those who tried to do the promo and it didn’t work correctly Sam’s Club is sending out mailers offering a $45 gift card. To receive the gift card you need to have received the mailer and bring it with you along with your membership card in club. Obviously this is highly YMMV, mostly just posting so people keep an eye out for the mailer and don’t just throw it out.

For those that got this mailer, only a few more days to use it.
For S.O., this was an easy $45, as her account was still open. They gave her a $45 Sam’s Happy B-day physical GC. Biggest pain was standing in line 20 mins with people returning cocktail shrimp and potato salad.
But, anyway, I had closed my membership a few weeks ago, before I got the mailer. I was debating what to do…. As the terms are pretty clear you have to have an account to get the $45. I went with Plan A:
Have SO refer me: $10 for her. $10 for me. (Sidebar: WHY they get away with advertising referrals as $20 and only paying $10, I do not know.
Chuck mentioned this months ago it was that way in an article comment, but yet it still persists. I can imagine in the many months a lot of people have complained, yet the mismatch continues.) Plan B would have been to add myself to S.O.’s account.
So, I walked up to the counter, explained my situation, that I closed my account primarily because the promo did not work out before, and told the CSR I had just reopened the account. (half-truth – I made a new account vice renewing) When she looked up my old account, said it had been closed since Jan. She said she could not give me the $45 if I am not the primary owner of an account. She had to charge it to an account, and shred the mailer. I said look me up by phone number (used my Cell, not Home #, and different e-mail address this time), and she found the new account, and gave me the $45 GC, and my new membership card.
I also expect $5 from Dosh on the deal. So, not much, but better than spending $45 just to get $45. I am always afraid to get too crazy on trying to stack deals as I am expecting the worst deal to override the others.
The other good news is this resets my membership date, and I plan to add S.O. to my account, have her cancel hers, and cash in on another scavenger hunt, this time on the new account…. Free rotisserie chicken tastes so good! FYI

Gadget 🕵️ turned me on to the offer… Did the original crazy stacks for $90, $15, $25, etc. This post card came in while I was out of town. Thought it was junk mail. Trashed it. Then the DoC article came up and I had second thoughts about what I received. In full tactical gear I found the ripped up mailer! Score! Just have to tape it back together and rinse the coffee grounds off so I can redeem this weekend. Thanks Gman! Too bad all the stack options (yelp/dosh) on purchases have long since dissolved.

I got $45 for the scan and go did not work at the store, $45 from scan and go ( it worked after a couple days), $20 dosh, $15 sd rebate. Now i get this one. I am paid to join Sam’s club
So, I am in a bit of a pickle. I guess I am going to go to the store and explain how this is part of the reason I cancelled my membership and see if I get the $45 GC, likely after paying $45 for a new membership or reactivating the old one.
Probably won’t work, but I guess a chance to be the DP for something odd. Likely YMMV, and I am probably not smooth enough to pull it off.
S.O. still has her membership, got the mailer too, and will be the tester for getting the card.

Got one, however I canceled my membership a while ago. Went in to my local store, the code didn’t work without an active membership. After some back and forth, they just decided to gave me a 45 gift card by “writing it off”
