Recently trying to book a hotel in Moab, UT. Thought I could stack a deal using a GC reseller with promos for H.com. Glad I checked the places I planned to stay before buying. Many places did not accept H.com gift cards through H.com. How does that even work? The few that did, the price was increased by greater than the savings from the GC vs normal purchasing. Maybe it was just this city and its limited options but H.com sucked for value. FWIW, award redemptions were over priced and 2 diff $50 off deals (expedia and citi) also bombed for this location.
I have noticed the same although people here have told me that the discount has been real for them. I do not buy hotels.com gcs anymore.
