Normally the activation fee is $3.95, so this brings it down to $2.95. Most people find American Express gift cards harder to liquidate so keep that in mind.

The WM Visa can be liquified using any of the techniques common for liquifying plastics as well as other unconventional techniques such as using a blender.
You can literally buy a visa gift card anywhere with the same purchase fees that walmart charges ($5.44 for a $500 card if I recall)

It’s cheaper (and easier) just to buy a Visa GC directly from Simon. Can’t see any way that this deal makes sense.
Also, Simon doesn’t act as a bonus category on any credit card that I’m aware of. It’s different if, say, this were an AMEX deal at the grocery store since you could buy the AMEX gift card with bonused spend and use it on insurance payments or doctors’ fees which are not normally bonused.
