Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer loyalty program has sent out an e-mail to members alerting them to a ‘series of enhancements to improve your redemption experience’. I’ll give you a little tip, as soon as a loyalty program starts talking about an enhancement what they really mean is that the award chart is being devalued and award flights will become more expensive. Changes to the KrisFlyer award will go into affect for flights booked on/after January 24th, 2019 (only the time of booking matters, flights already booked for dates after this will not be affected).
- Old award chart (effective through January 23rd, 2019)
- New award chart (effective January 24th, 2019)
The increases are mostly slight, but a difference of 7,000/12,000 miles one way does add up quickly especially when you convert it to round trip pricing and especially if you’re taking a trip with more than one person.
