[Dead] Small Luxury Hotels Inspired Status (Midrange) For American Express Cardholders (Free Night?)

Update: Looks to be dead now, you get redirected to the home page.

Update: We’re reposting because reader Abey points out the free birthday gift is a free night certificate. The fine print states this isn’t available for people who got status through things like this partnership but then reader Qdizzle informs us that even with no prior stays they were able to get a free night certificate. Definitely at least worth trying.

Hyatt announced yesterday that you’d be able to earn and redeem points at Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) of the World properties. Hyatt status won’t be recognized at these properties. American Express cardholders are eligible to get free ‘Inspired’ status for SLH’s loyalty program. Inspire is SLH’s mid range tier (three tiers in total). This entitles you to:

  • Member Exclusive Rate
  • Early Check-In (Noon, based upon availability at booking and check in)
  • Late Check Out (3pm, based on availability at check in)
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Daily complimentary breakfast for two
  • Member Exclusive Promotions
  • Birthday Gift
  • Room Upgrade (one category at check in if available)

Keep in mind you’re supposed to get the above benefits if you book directly and the Hyatt announcement made mention of needing to book through Hyatt’s booking platform so it remains to be seen if you will actually be eligible for the above benefits when trying to earn Hyatt points. Anybody have any idea what the birthday gift is?

They have some really nice luxury hotels. Im amazed.
Definitaly going to book some if it’s in the 8K-15K Hyatt range.
Check out the Vahine Island Resort and Spa hotel at the French Polynesia.

How does one get to be a level 2 tier or level 3 tier status? In the fine print it says once we reach this we can receive the bday certificate.

Looks like if you’re already a member, you don’t get the upgrade. Bummer

***Scratch that. The upgrade worked, even for an existing member!

I just created my profile and I don’t know how to get the upgrad

Some really nice looking properties in the Maldives and Santorini. Hoping they stick with the fixed Hyatt reward chart and not terrible market rates like with oasis.

Looks like the Birthday gift might be a complimentary free night that is being sent 10 days before your birthday and you have 10 days to redeem the code and 3 months to book it.
Check it out here.

It will be interesting if that is included, however the terms you linked to explicitly say that it is not available to those that joined through a partnership (like Amex would be).

I love SLH. I have an Amex linked Inspired account with no prior stays. My birthday gift this year was a free stay redeemable at any SLH within 3 month of the certificate issuance date. That said, I was able to redeem for a stay past the 3 month date because the redemption process is handled manually through a single SLH contact person and is at the discretion of the redemption property. They also have a lucrative refer a friend program, where the referrer get a free night for each friend that books a single stay above $200. This can be done a maximum of 3 times per account. Lastly, I don’t think inspired benefits will be honored unless booking directly through SLH, my two cents.

if I can redeem Hyatt points, even at the 25K+ level for some of them, this will become the primary hotel program for me

I dont get it, you dont even have to validate your american express status. so its just free mid level tier for everyone

Is there any sort of vague timeline as to when these will be bookable with Hyatt points?

It appears that any Amex card would work to get you ‘Inspired’ status. Is that correct? (I don’t have a Hyatt card.)

I just signed up through the link, it never asked for any Amex card info and I still got the status.

Signed up for SLH Inspired status through Amex link, Birthday gift doesn’t show in my benefits (Rest of the benefits do show up). Possibly dead.

Same here. Weird that there is no requirement to link any amex card. Also clicked the link on Invited website to email me my Inspired benefits and they aren’t listed there, either.
