Southwest Schedule Extended Until January 4th, 2021

Southwest periodically make flights for further in the future available. You can now book flights through January 4th, 2021. Southwest has not released when the next travel extension will be.

Southwest has a pretty good cancellation/refunds policy, depending on the fare you’ve booked you’ll either receive a credit towards a future flight(Wanna Get Away) or cash refund (Business Select or Anytime – returned to credit card if you used one). That means it’s often best to book flights as soon as they become available and periodically check to see if the price has decreased, if it has you can click ‘change flight’

I have a companion pass that was set to expire on Dec 31st and it had the expiration date was extended to 6/30/2021. I wasn’t able to use it to book a companion ticket online for a 1/2/2021 flight. It threw back an error message on the checkout page that said that the flight was past the expiration date of the pass. I contacted Southwest through email and they booked the companion for me. They didn’t even charge me the taxes and fees. Gotta love Southwest.

Yeah looks like all flights vastly increased in price from October 31st through January 4th (the extension period).

If you book with points, it’s easy to cancel and rebook if the price drops. Sometimes my outbound flight increases in price while my return flight decreases in price or vice versa. I always book one way tickets so I’m able to rebook one part of the trip without touching the other flight.
